Materials: Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, size 20, White. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 8 or 9. Talon Slide Fastener.

Ch 78, turn. 1st row: D c in 4th ch from hook and d c in each st of foundation ch (76 d c). Then work down other side of ch, making 1 d c in each st (152 d c in all). Sl st to ch-3 at beginning. (Join all rows in this way). From here on, pick up only back loop of each st and count turning ch-3 as 1 d c for beginning of row. 2nd to 4th rows incl: Ch 3, d c in each d c.

5th row: Ch 3, d c in each st of row below, making 1 pc st in 20th, 24th, 28th, 38th, 48th, 52nd and 56th sts. The 76th st brings work to end of one side. Make other side the same. 6th row: Ch 3, d c in each d c and in each pc st of previous row, making a pc st in 22nd, 26th, 36th, 40th, 50th and 54th sts. Work other side to correspond.

Repeat 6th row, placing pc sts as follows: 7th row: in 20th, 24th, 34th, 38th, 42nd, 52nd and 56th sts. 8th row: in 22nd, 32nd, 36th, 40th, 44th and 54th sts. 9th row: in 20th, 34th, 38th, 42nd and 56th sts. 10th row: in 26th, 36th, 40th and 50th sts. 11th row: in 24th, 28th, 38th, 48th and 52nd sts. 12th row: in 22nd, 26th, 30th, 46th, 50th and 54th sts. 13th row: in 20th, 24th, 28th, 32nd, 38th, 44th, 48th, 52nd and 56th sts. 14th to 21st rows incl: Same as 12th, 11th, 10th, etc., to 5th row incl. 22nd row: Ch 3, d c in each d c and in each pc st of row below. 23rd to 25th rows incl: Same as 2nd. 24th row: 1 sl st in each d c. Fasten off. Sew fastener along the top of the bag.
