Select the thread for your purpose in your choice of colors. These insertions and edgings may be made in many different types of threads, including the threads specificied in the pattern.
Abbreviations in Crochet and Tatting
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
half dc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet
tr - treble
d tr - double treble
sl st - slip stitch
st - stitch
rnd - round
incl - inclusive
inc - increase
dec - decrease
r - ring
lr - large ring
sr - small ring
ds - double stitch
p - picot
lp - long picot
sm p - small picot
sep - separate
cl - close
rw - reverse work
sp - space
* (asterisk) - Repeat the instructions following the asterisk as many more times as specific, in addition to the original.
Repeat instructions in parentheses as many times as specified. For example: "(Ch 5, sc in next sc) 5 times" means to make all that is in parentheses 5 times in all.
Crochet Patterns
Edging--First Motif--Apple Blossom . . . Starting at center with Pinks, ch 8. Join with sl st to form ring.
1st rnd: Ch 1, 25 sc in ring. Sl st in first sc. Now work petals individually as follows:
First Petal . . . 1st row: 2 sc in next 5 sc. Ch 1, turn. (More)
1st rnd: Working over 4 strands make 20 sc in ring. Sl st in first sc.
2nd rnd: *Make 10 sc over 4 strands (this starts petal); to complete petal--still working over 4 strands and the petal sts previously made make sc in 2nd sc from hook and in next 8 sc (one petal completed), sc in next 2 sc on ring. Repeat from * around (10 petal in all). Sl st in first sc. Break off. (More)
Edging--Buttercup Motif . . .Starting at center with Yellow, ch 6. Join with sl st to form ring.
First Petal . . . 1st row: Sl st in ring, ch 3, 3 dc in ring. Ch 1, turn,

First Petal . . . 1st row: Ch 3, 4 dc in ring. Ch 3, turn.

Edging--Forget-Me-Not . . .Starting at center of Flower with Blue, ch 1 loosely, ch 4 more in the usual manner. * Holding back on hook the last loop of each tr make 2 tr in 5th ch from hook, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster), ch 4, sl st in same place as last tr was made (petal); ch 4, make a 2 tr cluster in same place as last cluster was made, ch 4, sl st in same place (another petal). Make 2 more petals (Forget-Me-Not completed). Ch 20. (More)

Blue Pillow Case Posies Edging
LEAVES AN STEMS: With Hunter's Green, tie ball and shuttle threads together, * R of 10 ds, p, 10 ds, cl. Rw, r of 10 ds, p, 10 ds, cl (2 leaves made). Rw, ch of 20 ds, draw tightly to form a curve (stem made). Rw, make 2 or more leaves as before. Reversing curve of chain, make ch as before. Rw, repeat from * for length desired. Tie and cut. (More)
