Big Ball:
J. & P. Coats—1 ball each of No. 48 Hunter's Green and No. 4-A Mid Pink, or
Small Ball:
Clark's O.N.T.—5 balls of No. 165 Pastels, 1 ball each of No. 69 Light Steel Blue, No. 46-A Mid Rose, No. 43 Dark Yel­low, No. 48 Hunter's Green, and No. 4-A Mid Pink.

SKIRT … Starting at waist with Pastels, ch 15. 1st row: Dc in 7th ch from hook, (ch 2, skip 1 ch, dc in next ch) 4 times. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: * 3 dc in next sp, ch 3. Repeat from * across, ending with 3 dc in last sp. Ch 5, turn. 3rd row: * Sc in next sp, ch 5. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in sp formed by turning chain. Ch 5, turn. 4th row: * 3 dc in next loop, ch 5. Repeat from * across, ending with 3 dc in last loop. Ch 7, turn. 5th row: * Sc in next sp, ch 7. Repeat from * across. Ch 5, turn. 6th row: * 5 dc in next loop, ch 5. Repeat from * across, ending with 5 dc in last loop. Ch 7, turn. 7th row: Repeat 5th row. 8th row: * 7 dc in next loop, ch 4. Repeat from * across, ending with 7 dc in last loop. Ch 3, turn. 9th row: Skip first dc, dc in next 3 dc, * ch 4, sl st in 3rd ch from hook (picot made), ch 1, dc in same dc as last dc was made, dc in next 3 dc, ch 4, dc in next 4 dc. Repeat from * across. Ch 8, turn. 28th row: * Sc in next loop, ch 8. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last loop, ch 4, tr in tip of last cluster. Ch 1, turn. 29th row: Sc in first loop, * ch 8, sc in next loop. Repeat from * across. Ch 8, turn. 30th row: * Sc in next loop, ch 10. Repeat from * across. Break off.

BODICE … Starting at top with Steel Blue, ch 18. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each ch across. Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: Skip first dc, (dc in next dc, ch 1) 3 times; (tr in next dc, ch 1) 8 times; (dc in next dc, ch 1) 3 times; dc in top of turning chain. Ch 4, turn. 3rd row: 2 tr in each of the next 2 sps, 2 dc in each of the next 2 sps, 2 half dc in next sp, 2 sc in each of the next 5 sps, 2 half dc in next sp, 2 dc in each of the next 2 sps, 2 tr in each of the next 2 sps, tr in 3rd ch of turning chain. Break off. 4th row: Attach Blue to back loop of first half dc, ch 3, working in back loop only make dc in next 13 sts. Turn. 5th row: Sl st in next dc, ch 3, dc in next dc and in each dc across to within last dc. Turn. 6th and 7th rows: Repeat 5th row. Break off at end of 7th row. Attach Blue to front loop of first st on 3rd row, sc in same place, * ch 3, skip next st, sc in front loop of next st. Repeat from * across. Break off.

BOW … Starting at center with Mid Rose, ch 6. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st row: Ch 3, 4 dc in ring. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Dc in first dc (1 dc increased at beginning of row), dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in top of turning chain. 3rd row: Dc in first dc, dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in turning chain. Break off. Attach thread to other side of ring and work other side of Bow to correspond.

STREAMER … With Mid Rose, make a chain 7 inches long. 1st row: Half dc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across. Break off. Fold Streamer and sew to one side of Bow. Sew Bow to Bodice.

ARM (Make 2) … Starting at top with Mid Pink, ch 4. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 ch. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures 1½ inches. Break off. Sew to Bodice.

HEAD … Starting at center with Mid Pink, ch 4. 1st rnd: 18 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join. 2nd rnd: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around. Join and break off.

NECK … Attach thread to any sc on Head. 1st row: Ch 3, dc in next 5 dc. Break off. Embroider face with scraps of Light Blue and Red embroidery floss. Sew Neck to top of Bodice.

HAT … Starting at center with Dark Yellow, ch 5. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 3, 18 dc in ring. Join. 2nd rnd: Ch 1, 2 sc in each dc around. Join. Now work in rows as follows: 1st row: Ch 5, (dc in next sc, ch 2) 16 times; dc in next sc. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: * Sc in next sp, ch 5. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in 3rd ch of turning chain. Ch 5, turn. 3rd row: * Sc in next loop, ch 5. Repeat from * across. Break off. Sew Hat to Head.
   Rip out hem of pillow case, press out any creases. Pin Skirt to center of pillow case. Cut out material in back of Skirt, leaving ⅛ inch for hem. Cut front of pillow case, curving to meet edge of Skirt. Turn hem under and sew neatly in place. With Pastels, sc closely around edge. Join and break off. Sew Skirt in place.

EDGING … Attach Pastels to first sc at edge of Skirt. 1st rnd: Sc in same place, * ch 10, skip 7 sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around to other edge of Skirt. 2nd rnd: In each loop around edge of Skirt and pillow case make (3 sc, ch 3) 5 times and 3 sc. Join and break off. 

SPRAY (Make 2) … Starting at one end with Hunter's Green, ch 7, sl st in 7th ch from hook (leaf made), (ch 7, sl st in 7th ch from hook) twice (2 more leaves made); ch 17, sl st in 7th ch from hook, ch 7, turn, sl st in 7th ch from hook (leaf made on both sides of chain). Work in this manner, making leaves at various intervals as before, until piece measures 6½ inches. Break off.

LARGE FLOWER (Make 8) … With Light Steel Blue (ch 7, sl st in 7th ch from hook) 5 times. Break off. With Dark Yellow make a French knot in center. Make 8 more Large Flowers with Mid Rose.

SMALL FLOWER (Make 4) … With Mid Rose (ch 4, sl st in 4th ch from hook) 5 times. Break off. With Dark Yellow make a French knot in center. Make 2 more Small Flowers with Light Steel Blue. With Hunter's Green, make a chain 1 inch long with 2 leaves at each end. Sew 2 Small Mid Rose Flowers to chain and sew to Hat. Sew remaining Small Flowers to Spray. Sew top of figure and Bow to pillow case. Sew Leaves and Flowers to pillow case. Starch figure lightly and press.
