Materials: Clark's O.N.T. (3 balls) or J. & P. Coats (2 balls) Mercerized Crochet size 10, White or any color desired. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 4, 5 or 6.

Neck Band. Ch 190 to measure 17½ inches, turn. 1st row: 1 s c in each st of foundation ch, ch 1, turn. 2nd to 8th rows incl: 1 s c in each s c of previous row, distributing at equal intervals 4 increases to the row (to make an increase put 2 s c in 1 st), also being careful not to have increases come over those of previous row. 9th row: Ch 3, 1 d c in each of next 2 s c, * ch 5, skip 3 s c, 1 s c in next, and repeat from * ending row with 3 d c, ch 1, turn. 10th row: 1 s c in each of next 3 d c, * 7 s c under next ch-5 loop, repeat from * ending row with 3 s c. Ch 3, turn. 11th row: 1 d c in each of next 2 d c, ch 3, * 1 s c in center s c of next loop, ch 6, and repeat from * ending row with ch 3, 3 d c. Ch 1, turn. 12th row: 1 s c in each of next 3 d c, 4 s c under next ch-3, * 9 s c under next ch-6 loop and repeat from * ending with 4 s c under ch-3 loop, 3 s c. Ch 3, turn. 13th row: 1 d c in each of next 2 s c, * ch 7, 1 s c in center s c of next ch-6 loop, and repeat from * ending row with ch 7, 3 d c. Ch 1, turn. 14th row: 1 s c in each of next 3 d c, * 9 s c under next ch-7 loop, and repeat from * ending row with 3 s c. Ch 3, turn. 15th row: 1 d c in each of next 2 s c, ch 4, 1 s c in center s c of next ch-7 loop, * ch 7, 1 s c in center s c of next ch-7 loop, and repeat from * ending row with ch 4, 3 d c. Ch 1, turn. 16th row: 1 s c in each of the next 2 d c, 5 s c under next ch-4 loop, * 9 s c under next ch-7 loop, and repeat from * ending with 5 s c under ch-4 loop, 3 s c, ch 3, turn. 17th row: 1 d c in each of next 2 s c, * ch 7, 1 s c in center s c of next ch-7 loop, and repeat from * ending row with ch 7, 3 d c. Ch 1, turn. 18th row: Same as 14th row. 19th row: Same as 15th row. 20th row: Same as 16th row. Continue making the strips of 3-dc on each side of collar although it will not be mentioned hereafter. 21st row: Make ch-8 loops. 22nd row: Make 11 s c over each ch-8 loop, ch 3, turn. 23rd row: 1 d c in each of next 2 s c, ch 6, 1 s c in center s c of next ch-8 loop, * ch 8, 1 s c in center s c of next loop, ending row with ch 6, 3 d c, ch 1, turn (from this row on every other row ends same as 23rd row). 24th row: Same as 22nd row, making 8 s c over ch-6 loops. Repeat 23rd and 24th rows twice more. 29th row: Make ch-9 loops. 30th row: Make 11 s c over each ch-9 loop. 31st row: Same as 29th row. 32nd row: Make 13 s c over each ch-9 loop. Repeat 31st and 32nd rows once more. 35th row: Make ch-10 loops. 36th row: Same as 32nd row and finish off.

Buttons. Ch 3, join with sl st to form ring. 6 s c in ring. Next rnd: 2 s c in each st. Continue with 1 s c in each st for size wanted. Stuff with cotton, sl st to a close. Make 6 buttons and sew to collar along strip of 4 d c's. Make buttonhole loops on other side to correspond to buttons.
