Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.
Each Motif measures about 6 inches.
234 Motifs 13 x 18 are required for spread measuring about 78 x 108 inches.

MOTIF. Ch 8, join to form a ring, ch 1 and work 16 s c into ring, join with sl st.

2nd Row—Ch 3, * thread over, insert in same space with joining, work off 2 loops, repeat from *, thread over and work off remaining loops at one time, * ch 5, skip 1 s c, cluster st in next st, (cluster st: thread over, insert in st, work off 2 loops, thread over, insert in same st, work off 2 loops, thread over, insert in same st and work off 2 loops twice, then work off remaining 3 loops at one time) repeat from * 6 times, ch 5, join.

3rd Row—Sl st into next loop, ch 3 and work a cluster st in loop, ch 4, cluster st in same space, ch 5, d c in next loop, ch 5, * 2 cluster sts with ch 4 between in next loop, ch 5, d c in next loop, ch 5, repeat from * all around, join.

To join motifs, work to corner loop, 4 s c in loop, ch 2, sl st in corresponding picot of 1st motif, ch 2, sl st in top of last s c of 2nd motif, 3 s c in same loop and continue joining all picots in same manner.

If desired, lace with velvet ribbon and trim with rosettes as illustrated.
