Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero).

13 bone rings, outside diameter ⅞ inch.

FIRST MOTIF ... 1st rnd: Starting at center with Yellow, make 18 sc over ring. Join with sl St to first SC. 2nd rnd: Picking up front loop only of each st throughout, SC in joining, * ch 3, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3. Join to first sc—18 loops. Break off and fasten. 3rd rnd: Using Red and working through both loops of each sc on first rnd, insert hook in any sc on first rnd, thread over and draw loop through, * insert hook in next sc on same rnd, thread over and draw loop through and through loop on hook. Repeat from * around. Join. Break off and fasten. 4th rnd. Picking up back loop of each sc on first rnd throughout, and holding the ch-3 loops of 2nd rnd for­ward, attach White to any sc on first rnd, ch 4, * dc in next sc, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Join to 3rd ch of ch-4. 5th rnd: Ch 3, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, dc in first ch-1 sp and follow­ing dc, thread over and draw through all loops on hook—2-dc cluster made; * ch 5, 3-dc cluster in last dc used, next sp and following dc; ch 3, 3-dc cluster in last dc used, next sp and following dc; ch 5, 3-dc cluster in last dc used, next sp and fol­lowing dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 5, 3-dc cluster in last dc used, next sp and following dc; ch 3, 3-dc cluster in last dc used, next sp and first st used at beg of rnd; ch 5. Join to tip of first cluster. Break off and fasten. Mark last loop made.

SECOND MOTIF … Work as for First Motif until the 4th rnd has been com­pleted. 5th rnd: Ch 3, 2-dc cluster over first sp and following dc; now join 2 motifs as follows: Ch 2, sl st in the marked ch-5 loop on First Motif, ch 2, 3-dc cluster in last dc used, next sp and following dc on Second Motif; ch 3, 3-dc cluster in last dc used, next sp and fol­lowing dc; ch 2, skip next ch-3 loop on First Motif, sl st in next ch-5 loop on First Motif, ch 2, 3-dc cluster in last dc used, next sp and following dc on Second Motif; starting at * on 5th rnd of First Motif, complete Second Motif ex­actly as for First Motif (no more join­ings). Make 2 more motifs, joining as Second Motif was joined to First Motif, leaving four ch-5 loops free between joinings. Following the diagram below for position of motifs, make 9 more motifs, joining corresponding ch-5 loops.

BORDER … 1st rnd: With right side facing, attach White to ch-5 loop before any joining of motifs, ch 3, 3 dc in same loop, * 3-dc cluster in joining of motifs, skip ch-2 sp, make 4 dc in each loop to within ch-2 sp before next joining. Repeat from * around. Join to top of ch-3. 2nd rnd: Ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, * make 3-dc cluster over next dc, next cluster and following dc; dc in each dc to within 1 dc of next cluster. Repeat from * around. Join. Turn. 3rd rnd: Sl st in each st around. Join. Break off and fasten. 4th rnd: Work­ing through both loops of each st on first rnd of border, work as for 3rd rnd of motif.
