1—215 yd. Ball Cream and
"STAR” PEARL COTTON, ARTICLE 90, SIZE 5
4—50 yd. Balls Green will make the Acorn and Leaf Potholders.
Cotton or Kapok for filling.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 8 or No. 9.

With Cream, ch 36, d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in each remaining st of ch (ch 3 counts as 1 d c in each row), ch 3 to turn each row.
2nd and 3rd Rows—Working in d c, increase 3 d c at beginning and end of each row.
4th and 5th Rows—Increase 2 d c at beginning and end of each row.
Next 14 Rows—Work even, break thread.
CAP: Attach Green in last d c, ch 5, 1 d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in next st of ch, d c in next d c, popcorn st in next st, (popcorn st: 5 d c in same space, drop loop off hook, insert hook in 1st d c and pull loop through, ch 1 to tighten st) * 1 d c in each of the next 2 d c, popcorn st in next st, repeat from * 16 times, d c in next d c, tr c in same space with last d c, work 2 more tr c working each tr c into lower loop of previous st (an increase), ch 1, turn.
2nd Row—Work 1 s c in each st, ch 3, turn (60 s c).
3rd Row—Popcorn st in next st, * 1 d c in each of the next 2 d c, popcorn st in next st, repeat from * 18 times, d c in last st, ch 1, turn.
4th Row—1 s c in each st, ch 1, turn.
5th Row—Sl st over 1st 4 s c, popcorn st in next st, * 1 d c in each of the next 2 sts, popcorn st in next st, repeat from * 16 times, ch 1, turn.
6th Row—1 s c in each st (52 s c), ch 1, turn.
7th Row—Slip st over the 1st 3 s c, popcorn st in next st, * 1 d c in each of the next 2 sts, popcorn st in next st, repeat from *14 times, ch 1, turn.
8th Row—1 s c in each st (46 s c), ch 1, turn.
9th Row—Slip st over the 1st 3 sts, popcorn st in next st, * 1 d c in each of the next 2 d c, popcorn st in next st, repeat from * 12 times, ch 1, turn.
10th Row—1 s c in each st (40 s c), ch 1, turn.
11th Row—Slip st over the 1st 6 sts, popcorn st in next st, * 1 d c in each of the next 2 sts, popcorn st in next st, repeat from * 8 times, break thread.
With right side of work toward you, attach Cream in 1st d c of 1st row, ch 1 and working across lower edge, work 1 s c in each of the 1st 9 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 3 sts, (s d c: thread over needle insert in st, pull through, thread over and work off all loops at one time) 1 d c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 tr c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 d tr c (3 times over needle) in each of the next 2 sts, 1 tr c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 d c in each of the next 2 sts, 1 s d c in each of the next 3 sts, 1 s c in each of the next 9 sts, break thread. Work another section in same manner.
Crochet the 2 sections together with a row of s c using Cream on lower sections, pad lightly with cotton or kapok, crochet top sections together in same manner with Green.
With Green, cover a bone ring with s c and attach to top of holder.
