MATERIALS: Chadwick's Red Heart Sock and Sweater Yarn, 14 balls (1 oz. balls) each of White and Baby Blue ... Clark's O.N.T. Plastic Crochet Hook No. 5 ... 6 yards of ribbon or blanket binding.

GAUGE: 4½ sc make 1 inch.

   Starting at one end with White, make a chain 40 inches long. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across until row measures 36 inches. Break off. Be sure to work in all loose ends at end of rows, thus keeping edges neat. 2nd row: Turn, attach Blue to free loop of first ch, sc in same place, sc in free loop of each ch across. Break off. 3rd row: Turn, attach White, insert hook through the first White sc and through the front loop of the corresponding Blue sc and complete an sc as before, * insert hook in next White sc and the front loop of the corresponding Blue sc and complete an sc as before. Repeat from * across. Break off. 4th row: Turn, attach Blue to free loop of first Blue sc, sc in same place, * sc in free loop of next Blue sc. Repeat from * across. Break off. Repeat 3rd and 4th rows alternately until piece measures 51 inches. Break off. Bind edges with ribbon (or blanket binding), mitering corners neatly.
