(Be sure always to complete last d c of each color-group with contrasting color.) With Brown, ch 3, turn. Hereafter follow chart from "B" to complete one strip. (Strip should measure about 16½ inches. If not, add a few more patterns.)

Cut a piece of fabric 9½ x 16½ inches, and 2 pieces, each 3½ x 16½ inches. Sew a ¼-inch hem on both long edges of large piece, and on one long edge of each small piece. Sew a crocheted strip to each hemmed edge of large piece. Then sew the hemmed edge of one small piece to each crocheted strip. Cut a piece of material same size as this entire piece, for back of pillow top. Sew both long sides together on wrong side, allowing ½ inch for seams. Turn piece right side out, and fray both short sides, forming a 2-inch fringe. Sew with over-and-over stitches along base of fringe to prevent further raveling. Insert pillow, and sew both short ends together 1 inch above base of fringe.
