MATERIALS—Lily Knitting and Crochet Cotton Yarn, Art: 600:—9-skeins Lt. Brown, 1-skein Rust, 3-skeins Reseda and 4-skeins each Orange and Yellow (or other colors). Crochet hook size 0. Size 28" x 33".

BLOCK—In Lt. Brown, ch 51, sk last st, 24 sc on ch, sk 2 sts, 24 sc on ch. ROW 2—Ch 1, turn, a lp st in last 23 sc, sk 2 sc in angle, a lp st in remaining 23 sts. ROW 3—Ch 1, turn, * 1 sc in each st to 2d st from angle, sk 2 sts in angle, 1 sc in each re­maining st. ROW 4—Ch 1, turn, 1 lp st in each st to 2d from angle, sk 2 sc in angle, 1 lp st in each remaining sc. Repeat Rows 3 and 4. ROW 7—Cut 3" long. Draw Rust thru lp on hook, turn and working over ends of both colors, repeat Row 3 from *. Repeat Row 4. Repeat Row 7 (joining Orange) and Rows 4, 3 and 4. Repeat Row 7 (joining Yellow) and Rows 4 and 3 three times. Repeat Row 3 four times (4 sc in final row). Ch 1, turn, sk last 3 sc, sl st in end sc. Fasten off. Make 35. (Sew 7 together into a straight band, following illustration) 5 times, then sew the 5 bands together, exactly matching corners.

One end and one side of rug will lack brown lp st bor­der on edge. Right-side-up, work sc in Brown around these 2 sides, with 3 sc in center corner. Ch 1, turn, 1 lp st in each sc, with 3 lp sts in center corner. Repeat these 2 rows twice (thru 3d lp st row). Continue around other 2 sides with sc, with 3 sc in corners. Then make a row of hdc around entire rug with 3 hdc in each corner. Ch 1, turn, 1 sl st in each st around. Fasten off.

Stretch and pin rug right-side-down in true shape on a large padded table or board. Steam and press dry thru a cloth.

FLUFF FRINGE—Wind 2 strands Reseda 15 times around a ½” card. Tie a tuft to every 3d and 4th sts around edge.

POM PON—Wind 2 strands Reseda 18 times around a ½” card. Tie a tuft on the plain Yellow corner square of each Block.
