Knot Stitch. Row 1. Make a ch., then * draw up loop ¼ in. Work 1 S.C. through back strand of elongated loop just made. Repeat from * for desired length. This forms the founda­tion row.

Row 2. Work two extra elongated loops to turn. Work 1 S.C. in center of 3rd S.C. or knot of Row 1. * Draw loop up ¼ in., work 1 S.C. in back strand of same loop, draw loop up ¼ in., work 1 S.C. in back strand of same loop, skip 1 knot and work 1 S.C. in 2nd knot. Repeat from * across row, and end with 1 S.C. in last knot.

Row 3. Work 2 elongated loops to turn, * work 1 S.C. through first loose knot of previous row, draw loop up ¼ in., 1 S.C. in back strand of same loop, draw loop up ¼ in., 1 S.C. in back strand of same loop, skip heavy knot of previous row, 1 S.C. in loose knot of previous row. Repeat Row 2 throughout.
