Baby Bonnet Pattern #5241

MATERIALS:
CHADWICK'S RED HEART BABY POM­PADOUR, 2 balls (¾ oz. balls).
Crochet Hook, size G.

GAUGE: 6 sts make 1 inch; 8 rows make 1 inch.

Hood is made in two pieces.

Starting at front edge, ch 36 to measure 6 inches. 1st row: Sc in 4th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across (17 sc). Ch 2, turn. 2nd row: * Sc in next skipped ch on foundation chain, ch 1. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in the turning ch (17 sc). Ch 2, turn. 3rd row: Sc in 1st sc of row before last, * ch 1, sc in next sc of same row. Repeat from * across (17 sc). Ch 2, turn. Repeat 3rd row until piece measures 2¾ inches. Ch 2, turn. Next row: Sc in same place as last sc of previous row, ch 1, sc in 1st sc of row before last, ch 1 and continue in pattern across (18 sc). Ch 2, turn. Re­peat the 3rd row 3 more times (18 sc). Ch 2, turn. Repeat the last 4 rows, thus increasing 1 sc at top edge every 4th row until piece measures 5¾ inches from be­ginning. Fasten off (back edge). Make another piece same as this.
   Sew back and top seams. Work in pat­tern across bottom edge, holding edge in to measure 7½ inches and making band ½ inch wide. Fasten off.

CORD … Using 3 strands of yarn as one, make a chain 30 inches long. Run cord through crocheted fabric, ½ inch from front edge. Make 5 yarn bows. Sew 3 on hood and 1 at each end of cord as in illustration.
