Windmill Doily Pattern #763

Materials: J. & P. Coats Crochet Cord or Clark's O.N.T. Knit-Crochet, color 26 Nile Green, 1 ball. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 3 or 4.

Ch 5, join with sl st, ch 3. 1st rnd: 2 d c in ring (ch-3 counts as 1 d c), ch 2, 3 d c in ring, ch 2, 3 d c in ring, ch 2, 3 d c in ring, ch 2, join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-3, ch 3. 2nd rnd: 1 d c between 1st and 2nd d c of 1st rnd, 1 d c in 2nd d c, 2 d c between 2nd and 3rd d c, * ch 3, 2 d c between 1st and 2nd d c, 1 d c in 2nd d c, 2 d c between 2nd and 3rd d c; repeat from * twice, ch 3, join as before, ch 3. 3rd rnd: 1 d c between 1st and 2nd d c of  2nd rnd, d c on 2nd, 3rd and 4th d c, 2 d c between 4th and 5th, ** ch 4, 2 d c between 1st and 2nd d c, 1 d c on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, 2 d c between 4th and 5th. Repeat from ** twice, ch 4, join, ch 3.

4th rnd: 9 d c over each group of 7 d c with ch 5 between (always count 1st ch-3 as 1 d c), ch 5, join, ch 3. 5th rnd: 11 d c on 9 d c with ch 6 between. 6th rnd: 13 d c on 11 dc with ch-7 between. 7th rnd: 15 d c and 13 d c with ch-8 between, ch 7. 8th rnd: S c in every other d c with ch-5 between, and s c in every 3rd ch of the ch-8 with ch-5 between. This will make 7 loops over the d c motif and 3 loops over ch-8, ch 6. 9th rnd: S c under each ch-5 with ch-6 between, ch 6. 10th to 13th rnds incl: Same as 9th rnd.

14th rnd: S c under each ch-6 with ch-7 between. 15th rnd: * Ch 7, s c in 3rd ch from hook, ch 4, s c under ch-7 of 14th rnd. Repeat from * to end, making s c under each ch-7 with 7 ch and 3-ch p and 4 ch between. This doily may be made as large as desired by adding more rows and increasing the number of ch st between each s c, as required. The center motif may also be enlarged by increasing the number of rnds, and in each rnd adding 2 d c to each of the 4 sections as in preceding rnds. The last or outside rnd, of course, should contain the p.
