MATERIALS: Bucilla Wondersheen Crochet and Knitting Cotton, Article 3666, 18 skeins Ivory No. 9: 1 skein each of Light Blue No. 14, Pastel Green No. 15, Yellow No. 34 and Salmon Rose No. 16;

Bucilla Blue Label Super Crochet and Knitting Cotton, Article 3457, 16 skeins Unbleached No. 12: 1 skein each of Pastel Blue No. 14, Pastel Green No. 15, Yellow No. 34 and Salmon Rose No. 16.
1 Bucilla Steel Crochet Hook, No. 6. Article 4300.
1 Bucilla Small Daisy Knitter, 1⅞ inches in diameter.

Gauge: Each square should measure 6 inches

Granny Squares—With ivory, ch 12, join with a slip st into a ring, work 24 s c in ring; join with a slip st in first s c of round. 2nd round: ch 3, work 1 d c in same place as the slip st, * 1 d c in each of the next 5 sts, 3 d c in next st; repeat from * twice, then work 1 d c in each of the last 5 sts of round below, 1 d c in same place as the slip st at beginning of round; join with a slip st in top st of ch 3 (32 d c in round, including the ch 3 at beginning of round, which counts as the first st of round). 3rd round: ch 5, work 3 d c in same place as the slip st below. * ch 2, skip 3 sts, 3 d c in next st, ch 2, skip the next 3 sts, 3 d c in next st, ch 2, 3 more d c in same st (corner); repeat from * around, end with ch 2, 2 d c in same place as the 3 d c at beginning of round, join with a slip st in 3rd st of turning chain, thus completing the 4th corner of square, work 1 slip st in corner space. 4th round: ch 5, turn, work 3 d c in corner space, ch 2 and a group of 3 d c in each of the next 3 spaces, ch 2, 3 more d c in same (corner) space, continue in this way around, end with ch 2, 2 d c in same space as the first 3 d c of round, join with a slip st in 3rd st of turning chain, 1 slip st in corner space. 5th round: ch 5, turn, work 3 d c in corner space, ch 2 and 3 d c in each space to next corner, ch 2, 3 d c, ch 2, 3 more d c,—all in corner space; con­tinue in this way around, end and join as in round below. Repeat last round until there are 12 rounds completed from beginning of square; join and fasten off. Make 111 of these squares.

Daisies—Wind thread 4 times on single spokes of daisy knitter. See instruction sheet enclosed with knitter. Make 220 daisies in each of the following colors, using ivory for the centers; rose, green, blue and yellow. Make 110 daisies in ivory, using yellow for the centers.

Daisy Squares—With ivory, make a loop on hook, work 1 s c under 4 threads in end of a petal of a blue daisy, ch 5, 1 s c under 4 threads in end of next (2nd) petal, ch 5, 1 s c in end of 3rd petal, ch 9, 1 slip st in last s c, to form a picot, ch 5, 1 s c in 4th petal, ch 5, 1 s c in 5th petal; do not ch 5 after the 5th petal, but keep the loop on hook. 2nd daisy: take up a yellow daisy, make 1 s c in end of a petal, ch 5, 1 s c in end of next (2nd) petal of second daisy, drop loop from hook, insert this in s c at end of 4th petal of first daisy and also in loop just dropped from hook, draw this loop through ch 5, 1 s c in end of next (3rd) petal of second daisy, ch 5, drop loop from hook, insert this in 5th st of ch 9 in picot on first daisy and insert it also in loop just dropped from hook, draw this loop through, ch 5, 1 slip st in s c in 3rd petal of second daisy, to complete the picot; ch 5, 1 s c in 4th petal, ch 5, 1 s c in 5th petal, ch 5, 1 s c in 6th petal, ch 9 for picot, 1 slip st in last s c, ch 5, 1 s c in 7th petal, ch 5, 1 s c in 8th petal. Do not chain 5 after the 8th petal, but with the loop on hook, make a s c in end of a petal in a new (rose) daisy, ch 5, 1 s c in end of next petal of new daisy, drop loop from hook, insert this in s c at end of 7th petal of 2nd daisy and also in loop just dropped, draw this loop through, ch 5, 1 s c in end of next (3rd) petal of 3rd daisy, ch 5, drop loop from hook, insert this in 5th st of ch 9 in picot on 2nd daisy and insert it also in loop just dropped from hook, draw this loop through, ch 5,1 slip st in s c in 3rd petal of 3rd daisy, to complete the picot; ch 5, 1 s c in 4th petal, ch 5, 1 s c in 5th petal, ch 5, 1 s c in 6th petal, ch 9 for picot, 1 slip st in last s c, ch 5, 1 s c in 7th petal, ch 5, 1 s c in 8th petal, ch 5, 1 s c in end of next (9th) petal of 3rd daisy, ch 9, 1 slip st in last s c, to form a picot.* ch 5, 1 s c in end of 10th petal, ch 5, 1 s c in end of 11th petal, ch 5,1 s c in end of 12th petal, ch 9, 1 slip st in last s c (picot), ch 5, 1 s c in st joining 1st petal of last (3rd) daisy to 8th petal of next (2nd) daisy, ch 5, 1 s c in end of 9th petal of 2nd daisy, ch 5, drop loop from hook, insert this in 5th (center) st of picot on 3rd daisy and also in the dropped loop, draw this loop through, ch 5, 1 slip st to complete the picot; repeat from * along upper side of daisies, ending with 1 s c in 8th petal of daisy; this leaves 4 petals free on 1st daisy. Note that the 2 joined petals at one side of a daisy are exactly opposite the 2 joined petals at other side of same daisy (with 4 petals between joinings); all daisies are also joined by the picots at corners. 2nd row of daisies: 1 s c in end of a petal of a new (green) daisy, ch 5, 1 s c in end of next petal, remove loop from hook, insert this in s c at end of 7th petal on 1st daisy of 1st row and also in loop just dropped from hook, draw this loop through, ch 5, 1 s c in end of 3rd petal of the new daisy, ch 5, drop loop from hook, insert this in joining st of the 2 picots of 1st row and also in loop just removed from hook, draw this loop through; ch 5, 1 slip st in s c at end of same (3rd) petal of the green daisy, to complete this picot; ch 5, 1 s c in next (4th) petal of the green daisy, ch 5, 1 s c in next (5th) petal, do not ch 5 after the 5th petal. 2nd daisy of 2nd row: 1 s c in a petal of a new (ivory) daisy, ch 5, 1 s c in next (2nd) petal, join as before to next petal of 1st daisy, ch 5, 1 s c in end of 3rd petal, ch 5, join to the joining st of the 3 picots, ch 5, 1 slip st in s c at end of 3rd petal of 2nd daisy, ch 5, 1 s c in next (4th) petal, join as before to petal on 2nd daisy of 1st row; ch 5, 1 s c in end of next (5th) petal of ivory daisy, join to next petal on 1st row, ch 5, 1 s c in end of 6th petal, ch 5, join to the joining st of next 2 picots of 1st row, ch 5, 1 slip st in s c at end of this (6th) petal, to complete the picot; ch 5, 1 s c in end of 7th petal, ch 5, 1 s c in end of 8th petal; do not ch 5 after this 8th petal. Continue in this way to join another green daisy, then work along other side of 2nd row in same way as other side of 1st row. Join 1 more row in same way, following chart for colors; then work down free side of square in same way as before and fasten off thread. Join 109 more squares in same way, thus making 110 daisy squares, in all.

Edging—With ivory and working from right side, work 2 s c in a corner picot of daisy square, * ch 2, 2 s c in each of the next 2 spaces, ch 2, 2 more s c in same space, 2 s c in next space, ch 2, 2 s c in next space, ch 2, 2 s c in next space, repeat from * to corner space, ch 2, 2 s c in corner space, ch 3, 2 more s c in same space, then continue in same way around entire square; join and fasten off.

Arrange squares in places as shown on chart and sew from wrong side with an overhand stitch, taking up one thread from each edge, thus forming a raised ridge on right side.

Border Points—With ivory, working from right side of work and beginning in upper right-hand corner of spread, make a loop on hook, work 1 d c in corner space, ch 2, work 3 more d c in same space, ch 2 and 3 d c under each ch 2 to next corner of spread, ch 2, 3 d c in corner space, ch 2, 3 more d c in same space; continue in this way around entire spread, working all corners alike and ending with ch 2, 2 d c in same space as the first d c of round, join with a slip st in top of first d c (13 groups of 3 d c over each square of spread). 1st row of point: ch 3, turn, work 3 d c in first space after corner, ch 2 and 3 d c in each of the next 11 spaces, 1 d c in next space. 2nd row: ch 3, turn, work 3 d c and ch 2 in each space to within 1 space of end of row below, omit the last ch 2, then work 1 d c in last space. Repeat last row until only 1 group of 3 d c remains and fasten off. Beginning in last space used in 1st row of first point, work another point in same way, over the daisy square. Continue in same way to work a point over each square along 3 sides of spread (sides and foot of bedspread).

Edging—With ivory, working from right side of spread and beginning at upper left-hand corner of Spread, work 1 s c in first space on side of first point, ch 7, work 1 s c in next space, work ch 7 and 1 s c in each space to top of point, ch 7 and 1 s c in each d c at top of point, then work ch 7 and 1 s c in each space to top of next point, continue in this way around all points, ending at upper right-hand corner of spread with ch 7 and 1 s c in last space of point. 2nd row: ch 7, turn, work 1 s c in first space, ch 7 and 1 s c in each space of row below. Repeat last row once and fasten off thread. Darn in all ends neatly.
