Color 5--Medium Rust--1 Skein
Color 6--Medium Green--1 Skein

Columbia-Minerva Nantuk 4 Ply Knitting Yarn
(Knitting Worsted Size--2 or 4 oz. skein)
Color 1--Beige--48 Oz.
Color 2--Coral--8 Oz.
Color 3--Bright Green--4 Oz.

1 "Boye" Non-Inflammable Plastic Crochet Hook "H" (Size 6)--14 inch

Gauge: 4 Sts. to 1 inch; 3 rows to 1 inch

1 "Hiawatha" Blunt End Tapestry Needle

Afghan Stitch: Ch desired length (number of Chs required for each Panel is indicated in instructions below).

Row 1--Draw up a loop in each Ch, leaving loops on hook, then take loops off as follows: Y.O. hook and through 1 loop, Y.O. hook and through 2 loops, repeat from * to end of row, ending with 1 loop on hook.

Row 2--Counting the loop on hook as first St., draw up a loop in each upright St., leaving all loops on hook, then take loops off as in Row 1.

Repeat Row 2 for Pattern.

Side Panels: (Make 2) With Color 1 Ch 40. Work in Afghan St. (40 Sts.) until there are 204 rows from start. Slip St. across, break yarn and fasten.

Center Panel: (Make 1) With Color 1 Ch 120. Work in Afghan St. (120 Sts.) until there are 120 rows from start. Slip St. across, break yarn and fasten.

Lower Center Panel: With Color 1 Ch 120. Work in Afghan St. (120 Sts.) until there are 39 rows from start. Slip St. across, break yarn and fasten.

Work Upper Center Panel the same.

To Embroider Center Panel: Work in Cross St. from Chart No. 1, starting on 18th row and in the 21st St. from right edge. Flowers indicated on Chart are worked in Lazy Daisy St. alternating Colors 2, 3, 5 and 6. Work a French Knot at center of each flower with Color 4.

To Embroider Side Panels: Work in Cross St. from Chart No. 2, starting on 9th row and in the 19th St. from right edge. Flowers indicated on Chart are worked in same as on Center Panel. Repeat the Tree Pattern 2 times more, starting first repeat on the 83rd row from start and second repeat on the 158th row. Embroider 6 more Flowers between Tree Patterns as illustrated, alternating Colors 2, 3 and 5.

Border For Center Panel: With Color 1 work 1 row of S.C. around Panel, working 3 S.C. in each corner to keep work flat. Work 2 more rows of S.C. in this same manner, using Color 5 and Color 3. Work same Border around each of the other 4 Panels.

To Join Panels: With Color 2 join Panels by working 1 row of S.C. on right side of work, working through back loops of Sts. With Color 2 work 1 row of S.C. around entire Afghan, increasing at corners.

Fringe: Wind Color 2 around a 4 inch cardboard, cut loops at one end. Using 3 strands, double and knot fringe in every 3rd St. across each end of Afghan.
