Materials Required:
Columbia-Minerva Knitting Worsted (4 oz. skein)
For Multicolor Afghans--1 Skein each of 4 shades in 6 color ranges
For Monotone Afghans--1 Skein each of Darkest Color and Medium Dark Color in one color range AND 2 Skeins each of Lightest Color and Medium Light Color in same color range.
8 Skeins of Background Color for A Afghans.
1 "Boye" Aluminum Crochet Hook "I" (Size 8)
Gauge: Completed Motif should measure: A-Triangle-7 inches at 1 side

Triangle Pattern Afghan
Motif: Starting at center with Color 1 (darkest color), ch 4.
Row 1-With Color 1 work 1 D.C. in 4th Ch from hook, * Ch 1, 2 D.C. in same Ch, repeat from * once more, Ch 1, slip St. to 3rd Ch at start. Break yarn and fasten.
Row 2-Fasten Color 2 in a Ch 1 space, Ch 3, 1 D.C. in same space, Ch 2, 2 D.C. in same space (first corner), *Ch 1, (2 D.C., Ch 2, 2 D.C. in next Ch 1 space), repeat from * once more, Ch 1, slip St to 3rd Ch at start. Break yarn and fasten.
Row 3-Fasten Color 3 in a Ch 2 space of a corner (not over previous joining), Ch 3, 2 D.C. in same space, Ch 2, 3 D.C. in same space, * Ch 1, 2 D.C. in Ch 1 space at side of Triangle, Ch 1, (3 D.C., Ch 2, 3 D.C.) in Ch 2 space of a corner, repeat from * once more, Ch 1, 2 D.C. in Ch 1 space at side, Ch 1, slip St. to 3rd Ch at start. Break yarn and fasten.
Row 4-Fasten Color 4 in a Ch 2 space of a corner (not over previous joining), Ch 3, 2 D.C. in same space, Ch 2, 3 D.C. in same space, *Ch 1, 2 D.C. in Ch 1 space at side of Triangle, Ch 1, 2 D.C. in next Ch 1 space at side, Ch 1, (3 D.C., Ch 2, 3 D.C.) in Ch 2 space of corner, repeat from * once more, Ch 1, (2 D.C. in Ch 1 space at side, Ch 1) 2 times, slip St. to 3rd Ch at start. Break yarn and fasten.
Background: Fasten Background Color yarn in a Ch 2 space of a corner. Ch 3, 4 D.C. in same space, Ch 5, 5 D.C. in same space, *3 D.C. in each Ch 1 space at side of Triangle, (5 D.C., Ch 5, 5 D.C.) in Ch 2 space at corner, repeat from * once more, ending 3 D.C. in each Ch 1 space at side of Triangle, slip St to 3rd Ch at start. Ch 1, then work 1 S.C. in each St and 7 S.C. in each Ch 5 space of previous row around entire Triangle. Break yarn and fasten. Make 90 Motifs.
To Join Motifs: Place 2 Motifs with right sides together. Fasten Background Color yarn through back loop of center St of a corner. Join the 2 Motifs at one side of a Triangle by working 1 S.C. in same space, then Ch 3 and 1 S.C. in about every 3rd St to center of next corner. Continue joining Motifs in same manner, working a Ch 1 over previous joinings. Form one Strip as follows: Make 3 wheels of 6 Motifs. Place the 3 wheels one above the other. Fill in sides with Triangles to form a straight sided Strip of 30 Motifs (ends of Strips will be rounded). Work Edging around entire Strip by working 3 D.C. in every 3rd St. around. Make 2 more Strips the same. Join the 3 Strips in same manner as Triangles.
Fringe: With Background Color wind yarn over an 8 inch cardboard. Cut loops at one end. Fold and knot 4 strands in each Ch 1 space at each end of Afghan. *Divide strands and knot 4 strands from next group, repeat from * across.
