Crocheted Insertion Pattern #60
Remember that you need a crochet thread of a size, texture, lustre, and color or shaded color right for the purpose. The thread should be of a quality to wear so that it will not break and make your work valueless. The color must be Boilfast so that innumerable washings will not fade it. These necessities to good work are found in both Clark's O.N.T. and J. & P. Coats Threads.
Mercerized Crochet is made in sizes 1 to 100 in white, and 1 to 70 in ecru; Boilfast colors in sizes 30 and 50. Size 1 is the coarsest, 100 the finest.
Ch 30, d c in 6th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1, d c in next, repeat once from *, ch 4, skip 6 ch, 5 d c in next, ch 4, skip 6 ch, 1 d c in next, * ch 1, skip 1, d c in next, repeat twice from *. 2d row: Turn, ch 4, d c in 2d d c, 1 ch and 1 d c in d c alternately twice, ch 3, 2 s c in last st of ch-4, ch 7, 2 s c in ch after 5 d c, ch 3, d c in next d c, sps same as at beginning of row. 3d row: 3 sps, ch 8, sl st in 4th st of ch-7, ch 8, d c in d c, 3 sps. 4th row: 3 sps, ch 2, 2 s c in 4th st of ch-8, ch 5, 2 s c in 5th st of next ch-8, ch 2, d c in d c, 3 sps. 5th row: 3 sps, ch 6, 1 d c in each st of ch-5 across center, holding last loop of each d c back on hook and working them all off together. Ch 6, d c in d c, 3 sps. 6th row: 3 sps, ch 4, 5 d c in top of cluster, ch 4, 3 sps. Repeat from beginning of 2d row.
