Woven Dish Cloth Mats Pattern

Woven Dish Cloth Mat #1

Materials Required:
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "AUNT LYDIA'S" HEAVY RUG YARN
2 - 70 yd. skeins Peacock and
1 - 70 yd. skein each Yellow and Moss will make 4 place mats
1 Blunt Tapestry Needle
4 Dish Cloths

NOTE: Cut lengths of Yellow, Peacock, Moss about 24 inches long. Cut Peacock about 30 inches long for 1st and 2nd rows.

No. 1

Start weaving at top of dishcloth. Weave lengthwise of dishcloth according to illustration in following color scheme:
* 2 rows Peacock, 1 row Moss, 1 row Pea­cock, 2 rows Yellow, 1 row Peacock, 1 row Moss. Repeat from * 3 times, then weave 2 rows Peacock.

FRINGE: Cut Peacock into 6 inch lengths and pull 1 strand through 3rd colored stripe of dish cloth, and one through stripe after 4th colored stripe of dish cloth. Work a fringe in each Peacock stripe. (1st and 2nd; 9th and 10th, etc. rows). Knot 2 strands tog across row. Trim fringe evenly.

Materials Required:
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "AUNT LYDIA'S" HEAVY RUG YARN
1 - 70 yd. skein each Bongo and National Blue and
2 - 70 yd. skeins Antique Gold will make 4 mats
1 Blunt Tapestry Needle
4 Dish Cloths

NOTE: Cut all strands 1½ times the length of longest side of dish cloth. Leave about 3 inches free on each end.

No. 2

Start weaving at top of dishcloth. Weave lengthwise of dishcloth according to illustration in following color scheme:
1 row National Blue, 1 row Bongo, 1 row Antique Gold, 1 row Bongo, 2 rows National Blue, * 1 row Antique Gold, 1 row National Blue, repeat from * 3 times, then weave 1 row Bongo, 1 row Antique Gold. This is center. Weave other half to correspond.

FRINGE: Knot 2 strands tog along each edge, then cut 6 inch lengths of Antique Gold. Thread 1 length into needle, insert needle under 2 threads of edge at corner, pull yarn through, pull lengths up evenly and knot. Work 1 fringe in same manner in next space and 2 fringes in each of next 4 spaces and at center of mat. Complete other half to correspond. Work fringe on other side in same manner. Trim fringe evenly.
