Curtains Pattern #4-68

ROYAL SOCIETY "EVERSHEEN", 400-yard balls: 21 balls of White or Ecru.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 7 or 8.
Each Panel measures about 40 x 81 inches.

GAUGE: 2 V sts measure 1 inch; 2 rows measure 1 inch.

Starting at bottom, make a chain 45 inches long (15 ch sts to 1 inch). 1st row: Tr in 7th ch from hook, * skip 4 ch, in next ch make tr, ch 4 and tr (a V st made). Repeat from * across until there are 80 V sts, skip 4 ch, in next ch make tr, ch 2 and tr. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: * Tr in next tr, ch 4, tr in next tr. Repeat from * across, ending with tr in 3rd st of turning chain. Ch 6, turn. 3rd row: Tr in next tr, * tr in next tr, ch 4, tr in next tr. Repeat from * across, ending with tr in next tr, ch 2, tr in 4th st of turning chain. Ch 4, turn. Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately until piece measures about 2 yards and 7 inches, or length desired. Break off.

BORDER … Attach thread in end of starting chain and work border along bottom and one long edge as follows: 1st row: Ch 4, * 3 tr in next sp, tr between 2 tr's. Repeat from * across to corner, make 7 tr in corner st. ** 3 tr in next sp, tr in end of row. Repeat from ** to top of curtain. Ch 4, turn. 2nd and 3rd rows: Tr in each tr and 5 tr in center st of corner. Ch 4, turn. At end of 3rd row, ch 1, turn and work sc in each tr across. Now work sc evenly across remaining 2 edges. Sl st in 1st sc. Break off.

  Make another panel, being careful when working border to have panels correspond. Starch lightly if desired and block on a curtain stretcher.
