MATERIALS: J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Pearl Cotton, Size 2 halls each of Black and Dark Yellow ... Steel Crochet Hook No. 3 ... A bone ring.
GAUGE: 6½ sts make 1 inch; 6 rnds make 1 inch.
Use double thread throughout.
Starting at center with Black, ch 2. 1st rnd: 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around (16 sc). loin and break off. 3rd rnd: Attach Yellow, ch 1, 2 sc in same place as thread was attached, * sc in next 3 sc, 3 sc in next sc (corner). Repeat from * around, ending with sc in same place as first 2 sc were made. Join. 4th and 5th rnds: Ch 1, 2 sc in same place as sl st, * sc in each sc to center sc of next 3-sc group, 3 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around, ending rnd as before. Drop Yellow. 6th rnd: Attach Black and work as for 5th rnd. 7th and 8th rnds: Pick up Yellow, with Yellow repeat 5th rnd. Join and break off. 9th rnd: Pick up Black and repeat 5th rnd.
POINT ... 1st row: Sc in each sc across to center sc of next 3-sc group. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Work off 2 sc as 1 sc (1 sc decreased), sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row until all sts are worked off. Break off. Attach Black to center sc of 3-sc group and complete another point as before. Work remaining two points in same way.
BORDER ... 1st rnd: Attach Yellow and sc closely around, making 3 sc at tip of each point. Join, drop Yellow. 2nd rnd: Attach Black and sc in each sc around, making 3 sc in center sc of each 3-sc group. Join and break off. 3rd rnd: Pick up Yellow and repeat 2nd rnd. Sew on bone ring.
