GAUGE: 5 sc make 1 inch; 7½ rnds make 1 inch.
Use double thread throughout.
MOTIF (Make 4) ... Starting at center with Red, ch 2. 1st rnd: 7 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in first ch. 2nd rnd: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around. Join. Drop Red. 3rd rnd: Attach White, ch 1, * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around, ending with sc in last 2 sc (20 sc). Join. 4th rnd: Always work over unused color. * With White make 2 sc in next sc, insert hook in next sc and draw loop through, drop White, draw Red through both loops on hook, thus changing color. Always change color in this manner. With Red, sc in next 4 sc. Repeat from * around. Drop Red, insert hook in first sc, and draw White through, thus joining rnd. 5th rnd: * With White, sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, with Red, sc in next 3 sc. Repeat from * around. Join. 6th rnd: * With White, sc in next 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc, with Red, sc in next 2 sc. Repeat from * around. Join. 7th rnd: * With White, sc in next 3 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc, with Red, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join. 8th rnd: With White, make sc in each sc around, having 3 sc in center sc of each 3-sc group. Join and break off. 9th rnd: Repeat 8th rnd, using Red.
