HIAWATHA Nylon Corde Art. 43, 3 tubes (100 yd. tubes) or 
HIAWATHA Super Twist Rayon Cord Art. 41, 3 tubes 
Bone crochet hook No. 3 
HIAWATHA Lining Material and Buckram Art. H-113 
HIAWATHA Lucite Chain No. 6228
CENTER SECTION (Make 2) 
  Ch 12. 1st row—Draw  up a loop in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (12 loops on hook)—this  completes first half of row-work 2nd half of row as follows: Thread over and  draw through 1 loop, * thread over and draw through 2 loops. Repeat from *  across until only 1 loop remains on hook. This completes 1st row.
  2nd row—Insert  hook under vertical bar of next st and draw up a loop, * draw up a loop under  vertical bar of next st. Repeat from * across until there are 12 loops on hook,  then work 2nd half of row in same way that 2nd half of 1st row was worked.  Repeat the 2nd row until piece measures 4", then work sc under vertical  bar of each loop across. Continue sc completely around and fasten off.
CIRCLES (Make 14) 
  Starting at center ch 5. Join with sl st to form a ring.
  1st row—12  sc in ring. Join with sl st in 1st sc.
  2nd row—Ch  3, dc at base of ch-3, dc in next st, * ch 2, 2 dc in next st, dc in next st.  Repeat from * around, joining last ch-2 with sl st to top of starting ch-3. 
  3rd row—Ch  1, then work sc in back loop only of each st and each ch around. Join and fasten  off. Sew circles in place as illustrated.
GUSSET 
  Work same as center section until piece is long enough to go  around 2 sides and bottom of sides of bag. Work sc around, fasten off.
FLAP 
  Work same as center section until piece is long enough to go  across top of bag. Work sc around, fasten off.
FINISHING 
  Sew gusset in place, then work sc's and ch's around top of  bag, thus joining all pieces and making even edge. Work 1 row of sc around.  Fasten off. Sew flap across top of one side of bag. Cut piece of cardboard  exact size of flap. Line bag, having seam at center of gusset and inserting  cardboard in flap. Pinch in top of gusset and sew. Work 1 row of sc along side  and bottom of flap to center, then ch 12, sl st in last sc made, work sc  closely over chain, continue working sc along remainder of flap. Make a 1½"  square same as center section, roll into shape of button, sew securely, then  sew in place. Sew on chain.
