Bracelet Bag Pattern

Materials:
HIAWATHA Super Twist Rayon Cord Art. 41, 4 tubes
Steel crochet hook No. 0 or bone crochet hook No. 3
10" TALON Slide Fastener Style 148 (available at all notion counters)
HIAWATHA Lining Material and Buckram Art. H-113
HIAWATHA Lucite Ring No. 6187

BOTTOM
Make a chain 13" long.
1st row—Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across until row measures about 11½" (number of sts must be multiple of 3 plus 1). Ch 1, turn. Cut off remaining chain.
2nd row—Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures 3". Ch 1, turn.

SIDES
1st row—Working in back loop only, work sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
2nd row (Wrong side of work)—Sc in 1st st, * dc in next 2 sts, (thread over, insert hook between the sc and 1st dc and draw loop through) twice; thread over and draw through all 5 loops on hook (group st made), sc in next st. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn.
3rd row (Right side)—Sc in sc, * ch 2, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn.
4th row—* Sc in sc, 2 dc in space, com­plete group as before. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat 3rd and 4th rows alternately until piece measures 6½".
Next row—Work sc in each st across. Fasten off. With wrong side toward you, attach corde and work 1 row of sc along- other side of foundation chain. Ch 1, turn. Work 2nd side, starting with 1st row. Work 1 row of sc along both side edges.

GUSSETS (Make 2)
Starting at bottom, ch 17.
1st row—Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (16 sc). Ch 1, turn.
Work in pattern (5 group sts) until there are 3 rows of group sts, ending with group st row. Ch 1, turn.
Next row—Work sc's and ch-2's across, making only 4 spaces instead of 5, thus de­creasing 1 pattern. Work 2 patterns with 4 group sts and 2 patterns with 3 group sts, then work only 2 group sts until gussets are 1 pattern row shorter than sides of bag. Work 1 group st on next row, then work row of sc along sides of gusset.

HANDLE
Make a piece 4 group sts wide and 13 inches long. Work row of sc all around.

FINISHING
Cut linings and interlining, following di­rections in kit H-113. Join bag as follows:  With sides of bag toward you sl st gussets into place, working 3 sc in corners. Make bag lining (with slide fastener), inserting cardboard in bottom and gussets. Insert lining in bag and sew into place. Work 2 rows of sc around top of bag, decreasing over gussets. Make 2" square of sc, and sew ring in place as illustrated. Line handle and sew to top of other side of bag.
