REQUIREMENTS:
YARN: 2-ounces of Green Sport Yarn; Small amount of Yellow and Tan Sport Yarn
CROCHET HOOK: #3 Bone

GAUGE: 6 sts to an inch. 7 rows to an inch.

   RIGHT MITTEN: Palm: Starting at the outer edge. Using the green yarn make a chain of 48 sts. ROW 1: Make 1 s c in 2nd ch from hook; 1 s c in each of the remaining chain sts (47 sts). Ch 1, turn. ROW 2: Make 1 s c in each st across row, placing 2 s c in last st, (an increase); mark this as the tip of mitten. Ch 1, turn. ROW 3: Make 2 s c in first st; 1 s c in each st to end of row. Repeat row 2 and 3, twice more. ROW 8: Repeat row 2. ROWS 9, 10, 11, 12: Work 1 s c in each stitch across row. ROW 13: Make 1 s c in each of the next 30 sts; chain 16 sts for thumb; 1 s c in 2nd ch from hook; 1 s c in each of the remaining 14 chain sts; continuing towards the cuff, make 1 s c in next 24 sts. Ch 1, turn. ROW 14: Make 1 s c in next 39 sts; 1 s c in each of the thumb foundation chain sts; 1 s c in next 28 sts; make a decrease on the last 2 sts as follows: pull up a loop in next 2 sts, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops. Ch 1, turn. ROW 15: Make a decrease on the first 2 sts; 1 s c in each stitch across row, (going around thumb). Ch 1, turn. ROW 16: Make 1 s c in each st across row, to within last 2 sts; make a decrease on last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. ROW 17: Make a decrease on the first 2 sts; 1 s c in each st to end of row. ROW 18: Make 1 s c in next 39 sts; decrease a stitch, (this is on the thumb); 1 s c to within last 2 sts; make a decrease on these last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. ROW 19: Decrease 1 st at the be­ginning of the row; work 1 s c in each stitch to end of row. ROW 20: Repeat row 18. ROW 21: Make 1 s c in next 24 sts; skip the next 28 sts for the thumb; 1 s c in each stitch to end of row. Ch 1, turn. ROW 22: Make 1 s c in each stitch across row. Break yarn.
   RIGHT MITTEN: Back of hand: Color panels are made as fol­lows: 5 rows of yellow; 4 rows of green; 4 rows of tan; 4 rows of green; 5 rows of yellow. Starting at the outer edge: Make a chain of 48 sts and work first 12 rows as on palm, (changing colors as needed). ROW 13: Work even, do not make the chain for the thumb. ROWS 14 to 21st inclusive: Work in s c, decreasing 1 st at the tip of mitten on every row. ROW 22: Make 1 s c in each stitch across row. Break yarn.
   FINISHING: Pin the two pieces together. Using the green yarn, starting at the cuff, s c the pieces together up the side, across tip; down 2nd side. Break yarn.
   LEFT MITTEN: As there is no right or wrong side of crocheting, place the thumb so as to form a left mitten when pinning the pieces together.
