REQUIREMENTS:
YARN: For Size 6½–2-ounces of 3-ply Fingering. For Size 7-7½–2-ounces of 3-ply sport yarn. Small amount of contrasting color.
CROCHET HOOK: Steel #4
GAUGE: 8 d c to an inch. 9 rows to an inch.
Work by picking up back loop of sts. all the way through gloves.
RIGHT GLOVE: Back of Hands Starting at outer edge and little finger. Chain 63 sts. ROW 1: Make 2 d c in 3rd chain from hook; and 1 d c in each of the remaining chain, (62 d c). Note: Turning chain 3, will count as 1 d c of next row. Chain 3, turn. ROW 2: 1 d c in each st across row, (62 d c). Ch 3, turn. ROW 3: Make a decrease as follows: * Yarn over hook, insert hook in next st, draw up a loop; yarn over and pull through 2 loops, repeat from * once more; yarn over and pull through the 3 loops; 1 d c in each st to end of row. Ch 3, turn. ROW 4: Make 1 d c in next 42 sts; following starts the ring finger: ** Yarn over hook, insert hook in next st, yarn over and pull through 1 loop, (this st makes a foundation chain for next st), yarn over and pull through 2 loops; yarn over and pull through last 2 loops, * yarn over, insert hook in foundation chain just made; yarn over and pull through 1 loop (foundation ch for next st); yarn over and pull through 2 loops; yarn over and pull through last 2 loops, repeat from * 18 times more; make 1 d c in same space as last d c made. (21 sts for finger), **. Ch 3, turn. ROW 5: 1 d c in each st across row. Ch 3, turn. ROW 6: Repeat row 5. ROW 7: Repeat row 3. ROW 8: 1 d c in next 42 sts, work between **'s of row 4, repeating from * 22 times, instead of the 18, (25 sts for 2nd finger). Ch 3, turn. ROW 9: 1 d c in each st to end of row. Ch 3, turn. ROW 10: Repeat row 9. ROW 11: Repeat row 3, ROW 12: Repeat row 4, (21 sts for index finger). ROW 13: 1 d c in each st to end of row. Ch 3, turn. ROW 14: Repeat row 13. ROW 15: Repeat row 3. Break yarn.
PALM OF RIGHT GLOVE: Repeat the first 11 rows as for back of glove. ROW 12: Working from cuff edge; make 1 d c in next 28 sts, (now begins the thumb). Work from ** to ** of row 4, (21 sts for thumb). Ch 3, turn. ROW 13: 1 d c in each st across row. ROW 14: Repeat row 13. ROW 15: Repeat row 3. Break yarn at the end of this row. Tie yarn in 30th st of row 11, (this is at the base of thumb) and make a chain of 20 sts (thumb). 1st row: Make 2 d c in 3rd ch from hook; 1 d c in the 17 remaining chain sts; 1 d c in 13 sts of the palm, (this is working towards tip of fingers). Work from ** to ** of row 4, (21 sts for index finger). Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Make 1 d c in each st across row, (this ends at tip of thumb). Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: 1 d c in each st across row, ending at tip of index finger. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: Make a decrease in same manner as before; 1 d c in each st to within 3 sts of end of row; make a decrease; 1 d c on last st. Break yarn.
FINISHING: Join contrasting color at base of thumb; s c thru both parts of thumb; across tip of thumb and down 21 sts on 2nd side of thumb. Break yarn. Tie contrasting color at cuff, (at outer edge) and s c both pieces of glove together; going up side and around fingers and down second side. S c around cuff. Break yarn.
LEFT GLOVE: Do exactly as the right glove as there isn't any right or wrong side to the work. When crocheting them together, lay the pieces together to make the left one.
