Size—About 52 x 66 inches

An old-fashioned name for an old-fashioned Afghan. The variety of bright colors, used in Hit and Miss manner, make it very gay, and will add a cheerful note to any room.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

MINERVA MILADY KNITTING YARN (4 ounce skeins)
15 Skeins—Assorted Colors
2 Skeins—Black
—OR—
MINERVA AFGHAN GERMANTOWN (2 ounce skeins)
25 Skeins—Assorted Colors
4 Skeins—Black

ATHENA NONINFLAMMABLE CROCHET HOOK—Size 4—6 inch

GAUGE: 5 S.C. to 1 inch.

INSTRUCTIONS:

With any Color Ch. 347 and work as follows:
ROW 1—2 S.C. in 2nd Ch. from hook, 1 S.C. in each of the next 6 Ch., * skip 2 Ch., 1 S.C. in each of the next 15 Ch., 3 S.C. in next Ch., 1 S.C. in each of the next 15 Ch., repeat from * 9 times more, ending skip 2 Ch., 1 S.C. in each of the next 6 Ch., 2 S.C. in last Ch., Ch. 1, turn.
ROW 2—2 S.C. in first St. (picking up both loops of St.), 1 S.C. in each of the next 6 Sts., * skip 2 Sts., 1 S.C. in each of the next 15 Sts., 3 S.C. in next St., 1 S.C. in each of the next 15 Sts., repeat from * 9 times more, ending, skip 2 Sts., 1 S.C. in each of the next 6 Sts., 2 S.C. in last St., Ch. 1, turn.
Repeat Row 2 for entire Afghan, working * 2 rows of a color 11 times, then 2 rows of Black (24 rows). Repeat from * for about 64 inches.

BORDER:

With Black work 2 rows of S.C. all around Afghan, increasing at points and corners on each row, then work 1 row each of 2 contrasting Colors, then 2 rows of Black.
