MAMA BEAR—Pompons for Head—Over a ¾ inch cardboard and large crochet hook wind Brown 200 times. Take a double strand of yarn about 12 inches long, pull yarn through with crochet hook, tie one end. Cut other end and trim. All pompons are worked in same manner.
EARS—Over a ½ inch cardboard wind Brown 75 times. Place on one side of head as illustrated by drawing lengths of yarn through head pompon. Make another pompon in same manner and place on opposite side of head, trim and shape.
BODY—Over a 1 inch cardboard wind Brown 225 times. Pull all lengths of yarn through center of body.
UPPER LEGS—Over a ¾ inch cardboard wind Brown 100 times. Pull lengths of yarn through upper top of body. Make another pompon in same manner and place on opposite side.
LOWER LEGS—Work 2 pompons some as pompons for upper legs. Pull lengths of one pompon through the other. Work other leg in same manner. Join legs to body as illustrated tying lengths together, tie and cut long ends. Trim and shape body as illustrated.
PAPA BEAR—Is assembled in same manner as Mama Bear. Size of pompons are as follows: work 1 pompon for head, 215 times over 1 inch cardboard, work 2 pompons for ears, 90 times over a ¾ inch cardboard, work 6 pompons for legs, 115 times over a 1 inch cardboard, work 1 pompon for body, 230 times over a 1¼ inch cardboard.
BABY BEAR is assembled in same manner as Mama Bear. Size of pompons are as follows: work 1 pompon for head, 75 times over a ⅜ inch cardboard, work 2 pompons for ears, 35 times over a ¼ inch cardboard, work 6 pompons for legs, 45 times over a ⅜ inch cardboard, work 1 pompon for body, 95 times over ½ inch cardboard.
PANTS FOR PAPA BEAR—With Amber ch 32 (about 5½ inches), d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in each remaining st of ch, ch 3, turn.
2nd Row—Working in d c, increase 4 d c evenly spaced, ch 3, turn.
3rd Row—1 d c in each d c, join, ch 3, turn.
4th Row—Start leg—1 d c in each of the next 16 d c, ch 1, join, ch 3, turn.
5th Row—1 d c in ch 1, 1 d c in each d c, join in 3rd st of ch, ch 3, turn.
6th Row—1 d c in each d c, join, cut yarn. Attach Amber in 1st free st of 3rd row. Work other leg to correspond. With wrong side of 1st row toward you, attach Amber in 1st st of starting ch, s c in same space, working tightly work 1 s c in each st, cut yarn, do not turn.
BIB—Attach Amber in 13th s c, ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 5 s c, ch 3, turn.
2nd Row—1 d c in each d c, ch 1, turn.
3rd Row—1 s c in each d c, work a ch about 5 inches long for shoulder strap, cut yarn.
Work another ch same length and attach to 1 st s c of last row. Place pants on bear, sew back opening closed, cross straps at back, draw through top row and tie.
PANTS FOR BABY BEAR—With Amber ch 20, d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in each remaining st of ch, join, ch 3, turn.
2nd Row—2 d c in next dc, 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, 2 in next d c, 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, join in 3rd st of ch, cut yarn.
Attach Amber in 1 st free d c of 1 st row, ch 3 and work same as 2nd row, cut yarn. With wrong side of work toward you work a row of s c in each st of starting ch, cut yarn.
BIB—Attach Amber in 9th s c, ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, work a ch about 3 inches long, cut yarn. Work another ch same length, attach to 1st st of last row worked.
MAMA BEAR'S SKIRT—With Amber ch 23, d c in 4th st from hook, 1 d c in each remaining st of ch, ch 3 to turn all rows.
2nd Row—D c in same space, 2 d c in each d c, join.
3rd Row—1 d c in each d c, join, cut yarn.
With right side of skirt toward you, attach Amber in 1st st of starting ch and work 1 s c in each st, do not turn, cut yarn.
BIB—Attach Amber in 10th s c, ch 1, s c in same space, 1 s c in each of the next 2 s c, ch 3, turn.
2nd Row—D c in same space, 1 d c in next s c, 2 d c in next s c, ch 1, turn.
3rd Row—2 s c in 1 st d c, 1 s c in next 3 d c, 2 s c in next d c, work a ch about 5 inches long for strap, cut yarn. Work another ch the same length, cut yarn and attach to 1 st s c of last row worked.

GOLDIE LOCKS

BODY—Wind White 80 times over a 6 inch cardboard. Tie one end (top of head), then tie about 1½ inches from top for neck.
ARMS—Wind White 40 times over a 4¼ inch cardboard, tie each end. Tie about ½ inch from each end for hands, then tie about 1½ inches from last tying on both sides. Trim ends. Insert arms through center of body and tie below arms for waistline. Divide remainder of body in half and tie about ½ inch from each end for feet. Trim ends.
HAIR—With Yellow ch 12. Cut twenty four 1¾ inch lengths of Yellow. Draw 2 lengths through each ch. Fold on ch, comb and trim. Sew around front part of top of head. Cut nine 8 inch lengths. Divide into 3 parts and braid. Tie each end, comb and trim. Place on top of head and sew to head.
DRESS—Skirt—With Green ch 16 (3inches), s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row—S c in same space, * shell in next s c (shell: ch 1, 1 d c, ch 1, 1 d c, ch 1, 1 d c, ch 1 ), s c in next s c, repeat from * across row, join in 1 st s c, turn.
3rd Round—Ch 4, 1 d c, ch 1, 1 d c, ch 1 in next s c, s c in center d c of next shell, * shell in next s c, s c in center d c of next shell, repeat from * all around, ch 1, join in 3rd st of ch, turn.
4th and 5th Rounds—Sl st to next s c, ch 4, 1 d c, ch 1, 1 d c, ch 1 in same space, s c in center d c of next shell, * shell in next s c, s c in center d c of next shell, repeat from * all around, ch 1, join in 3rd st of ch, turn, cut yarn.
BIB—With right side of work toward you, working on oppo­site side of starting ch, attach Green in 8th st, 3 s c in same space, ch 3, turn.
2nd Row—D c in same space, 1 d c in next st, 2 d c in next st, ch 1, turn.
3rd Row—1 s c in each st, ch 25 for shoulder strap, cut yarn. Work another ch same length and attach to opposite side of bib. With right side of work toward you attach Green on 1 side of 1 st s c row of bib, ch 3, s c over side of next d c row, ch 3, s c in top of same row, ch 3, s c in 1st st of ch, * ch 4, skip 1 st of ch, s c in next st, repeat from * twice, ch 3, skip 1 st, s c in next st, ch 3, skip 1 st, sl st in next st, cut yarn. Attach Green in 15th st from end of opposite ch, * ch 3, skip 1 st, s c in next st, repeat from * once, * ch 4, skip 1 st, s c in next st, repeat from * twice, ch 3, skip 1 st, s c in next st, ch 3, s c in base of next row, ch 3, s c over side of next row, cut yarn. Place dress on doll, sew back opening closed. Cross shoulder straps at back, pull chs through 1st row of back of dress and tie.
HAT—With Green ch 5, join to form a ring, ch 3, 17 d c in ring, join in 3rd st of ch, ch 3, turn.
2nd Row—1 d c in each of the next 14 d c, ch 1, turn.
3rd Row—1 s c in each d c, ch 1, turn.
4th Row—l s c in each s c, ch 3, turn.
5th Row—S c in next s c, ch 3, s c in next s c, * ch 4, s c in next s c, repeat from * 9 times, ch 3, s c in next s c, ch 3, sl st in next st, ch 30 tightly for tie, cut yarn. Work another ch in same manner, attach to opposite side of cap. Attach Green in 4th loop of edge, ch 3, s c in next loop, * ch 4, s c in next loop, repeat from * 4 times, ch 3, sl st in next loop, cut yarn. With "STAR" SIX STRAND EMBROIDERY COTTON em­broider eyes, nose and mouth as illustrated. Use White yarn for bears' eyes.
