MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN," Art. A.64: 3 balls of No. 76 Robinette; and
J. & P. Coats Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet, Art. A.104, Size 30: 1 ball of No. 4-A Mid Pink.

Milwards Steel Crochet Hooks No. 7 and No. 10.

A doll, 8 inches tall, chest 4 ½ inches.

SKIRT ... Starting at waist with Robinette and No. 7 hook, make a chain 4 ½ inches long. 1st row: Tr in 5th ch from hook, 2 tr in each ch across. Ch 4, turn. Now work in rnds as follows: 1st rnd: Skip first tr, * 2 tr in next tr (1 tr increased), tr in next tr. Repeat from * across, ending with 2 tr in top of chain. Join with sl st to top of ch-4. 2nd rnd: Ch 4, tr in next tr, * 2 tr in next tr, tr in next 2 tr. Repeat from * around. Join. 3rd, 4th and 5th rnds: Work as for last rnd, having 1 tr more between increases on each rnd. Work without increasing until skirt measures 6 ½ inches. Break off.

BODICE ... 1st row: Attach Robin­ette to first chain at waist, sc in same ch, sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd to 5th rows incl: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 6th row: Sc in each sc, increasing 4 sc evenly across—to inc 1 sc, make 2 sc in 1 sc. Ch 1, turn. 7th row: Repeat 2nd row. 8th row: Repeat 6th row. 9th and 10th rows: Repeat 2nd row. Break off at end of 10th row.

To Shape Shoulder: Place a pin as marker at center front of Bodice. 1st row: Attach Robinette to sc marked, sc in same sc and in next 8 sc (armhole edge). Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across to within last 2 sc, work off 2 sc as 1 sc (1 sc decreased). Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in each sc across, increasing 1 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn. 4th to 7th rows incl: Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows 2 more times. 8th row: Repeat 2nd row. 9th and 10th rows: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 11th to 16th rows incl: Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows 3 more times. Break off at end of 16th row. Sew the 9 sc of last row to first 9 sc on one side of back of Bodice. Attach thread to first free sc following marker on Front and work other shoulder in same way. Sew snap fasteners to back opening on Bodice.

PEPLUM ... With Pink and No. 10 hook, make a chain long enough to reach around waist. 1st. row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in first sc, * draw loop on hook out to measure ⅛ inch, thread over and draw loop through, insert hook between single and double loops and draw a loop through, thread over and draw through 2 loops on hook (knot st made), make another knot st, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Make 3 knot sts. Turn. 3rd to 12th rows incl: * Sc under double loop of next knot st to the right of knot, sc under double loop of next knot st to the left of same knot, make 2 knot sts. Repeat from * across. Make 3 knot sts. Turn. Break off at end of 12th row.

NECK RUFFLE ... With Pink make a row of knot sts long enough to fit around neck and meet at waist. Make 2 more knot sts. 1st row: Sc in knot between 3rd and 4th knot sts from hook, make 2 knot sts, sc in next knot. Make 3 knot sts. Turn. 2nd, 3rd and 4th rows: Repeat 3rd row of Peplum. Break off at end of 4th row.

HAT ... Same as Hat for Miss New Orleans using Robinette.

HAT TRIMMING ... With Robin­ette, ch 2. 1st rnd: 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join and break off. 2nd rnd: Attach Pink to any sc, sc in same place, * (make 2 knot sts, sc in same sc) twice; make 2 knot sts, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off. Sew to Hat.

Line Neck Ruffle and Peplum with net, making lining for Peplum slightly smaller than Peplum so that it will be puffed. Sew ends of Neck Ruffle to front of Peplum. Cut ½ yard of ribbon in half and sew a piece to each side of Neck Ruffle. Tie into a bow. Stain a pipe cleaner brown and tie securely to hand with thread.
