Materials Required:
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY “DAWN” KNITTING WORSTED
1 oz. each Scarlet and White and
"AUNT LYDIA’S" CARPET AND BUTTON THREAD, Article 1
1 spool White
Steel crochet hook No. 0

Santa Claus: BODY—Wind Scarlet 30 times over a 2½ inch cardboard. Tie one end for top of head. Tie about ½ inch from top of head for neck.

ARMS—Wind Scarlet 10 times over a 2 inch cardboard. Tie about ⅛ inch from each end. Cut and trim ends for hands. Insert arms through center of body. Tie below arms for waistline. Divide remainder of body in half and tie about ⅛ inch from each end. Cut and trim ends for feet.

HAT—With Scarlet ch 12, d c in 4th st from hook, * skip 1st of ch, d c in next st keeping last loop of st on hook, repeat from * to end of ch, yarn over and pull through all loops at one time, cut yarn leaving a length. Sew sides. With White ch 10, join, cut yarn leaving a length. Sew to edge of hat having the wrong side of ch toward you. Sew to head of doll with “AUNT LYDIA” CARPET and BUTTON THREAD.

POMPON—Wind White 6 times over ½ inch cardboard. Tie one end. Insert crochet hook through hole at top of hat, pull free end of pompon through. Cut and trim.

BEARD—Cut six—1 inch lengths of White. Sew to face at center of lengths. Comb and trim.

MUSTACHE—Cut two—1 inch lengths. Sew above beard to face at center of lengths. Comb and trim. Embroider eyes and nose with “AUNT LYDIA” CARPET and BUTTON THREAD as illustrated.

MRS. SANTA CLAUS—Work body and hat same as for Santa Claus but cut lower end for skirt. Embroider mouth, nose and eyes.

APRON—With White leave a 3 inch length for tie, then ch 4, 2 s c in 2nd st from hook, 2 s c in each remaining st, ch 1 to turn all rows.

2nd and 3rd Rows—1 s c in each s c, cut yarn at end of last row. Cut a 3 inch length and sew to opposite end of starting ch for other tie. Place on doll and tie at back.

CAPE—With White leave a 3 inch length, then ch 8, 2 s c in 2nd st from hook, 2 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.

2nd Row—1 s c in each s c, cut yarn. Cut a 3 inch length and sew to opposite end of starting ch. Place around neck and tie at front with bow. Cut long ends.
