MATERIALS:

CLARK'S O.N.T. or J. & P. COATS BEST SIX CORD MERCERIZED CRO­CHET, size 50:
Small Ball:
Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats—1 ball of White, Ecru or any color.
Milward's Steel Crochet Hook No. 10 or 11.

TAB … Starting at one end, ch 58 (to measure about 3 inches). 1st row: S c in 10th ch from hook, (ch 5, skip 3 ch, s c in next ch) 12 times. Ch 6, turn. 2nd row: S c in next loop (ch 5, s c in next loop) 12 times. Ch 6, turn. Repeat the 2nd row until piece meas­ures 3½ inches. Fasten off.

EDGING … 1st row: Attach thread at end of 1st row, and working along side, ch 7, * skip 1 loop, tr over s c of next loop, ch 3. Repeat from * to end, tr in end loop, (ch 3, tr in same loop) 3 times; then working along short end, (ch 3, tr in next loop) 13 times, (ch 3, tr in same loop) 3 times; then working along other side, ch 3, tr over s c of next loop, and continue thus to end. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: * S c in next tr, ch 5. Repeat from * across to 4 tr-group at corner. (Ch 5, s c in next tr) 3 times. Turn.

First Point … Work as follows: Sl st into ch-5 loop, ch 4, 2 tr in same loop holding back the last loop of each tr on hook, thread over and draw through all 3 loops on hook—cluster made. (Ch 3, 3 tr in next loop, holding back the last loop of each tr on hook, thread over and draw through all loops on hook) twice; turn, sl st in sp, ch 4 and complete a cluster as before, ch 5, sl st in tip of cluster, then make a 3 tr cluster in next sp, and fasten off.

Second Point … Attach thread to same tr where last s c was made, (ch 5, s c in next tr) 3 times; turn and complete same as First Point. Fasten off.
   Make four more points in same man­ner, but do not fasten off at the end of last point. Continue working ch-5 s c loops along side to end. Fasten off.

BOW … Starting at one end, ch 26. 1st row: Tr in 8th ch from hook, (ch 2, tr in same ch) twice, (skip 5 ch, tr in next ch, ch 2, tr in same ch) 3 times. Turn. 2nd row: Sl st in next 2 ch and in next tr, (ch 2, tr in same tr) twice, (skip 2 tr, make 3 tr with ch 2 be­tween in next tr) 3 times. Turn. Re­peat the 2nd row until piece measures 18 inches. Next row: (Ch 5, s c in sp between 3 tr-groups) 3 times; ch 5, s c in last tr. Turn. Following row: (S c in next loop, 7 d c in same loop, s c in same loop) 4 times. Fasten off. Attach thread to other end and work scallops in same way.

FINISHING … Gather top of Tab. Fold Bow as in illustration, sew se­curely at center, and sew to top of Tab. Attach safety pin to fasten.
