Wave Stitch Sacque Pattern

Materials

4 ozs. CYNTHIA Bay-Bee Yarn, Sky Blue No. 353.
Bone crochet hook No. 4.
1 yard ½ inch ribbon

Gauge: 6 DC = 1 inch

Beginning at neck, ch 79.

1st row: 1 DC in 4th ch from hook, 1 DC in each st across row, ch 3, turn.

2nd row: 1 DC in next st, skip 1 st, * working through back thread only of each st, 1 DC in each of next 2 sts, 3 DC in next st, 1 DC in each of next 2 sts, skip 1 st, repeat from * 11 times, working through both threads, 1 DC in each of the last 2 sts, ch 3, turn.

3rd row: 1 DC in next st, skip 1 st, * working through back thread only, 1 DC in each of next 2 sts, 5 DC in next st, 1 DC in each of next 2 sts, skip 2 sts, repeat from * 11 times, the last pattern skip only 1 st, 1 DC in each of last 2 sts, working through both threads, ch 3, turn. (Continue working the first and last 2 sts through both threads and the remaining sts through back thread only on each row).

4th row: 1 DC in next st, skip 1 st, * 1 DC in each of next 3 sts, 3 DC in next st, 1 DC in each of next 3 sts, skip 2 sts, repeat from * 11 times, the last pattern skip 1 st, 1 DC in each of last 2 sts, ch 3, turn.

5th row: Work same as 4th row, but work 5 DC in center st of each group of previous row.

Continue working in this manner, working 3 DC in each group every other row and 5 DC in each group on the alternate rows (thus increasing 2 sts in each pattern every other row), until there are 8 rows in all from beginning.

9th row: Work first 2 patterns, skip 2 sts, work 1 DC of 3rd pattern, ch 13, skip rest of 3rd pat­tern and 11 sts of 4th pattern (sleeve), work 1 DC in next to last st in 4th pattern, skip 2 sts and work 4 complete patterns (back), skip 2 sts, 1 DC in next st, ch 13, skip rest of 9th pattern and 11 sts of 10th pattern (sleeve), work 1 DC in next to last st in 10th pattern, skip 2 sts and work last 2 patterns, ch 3, turn.

Continue working pattern on fronts and back, starting 1 pattern at each underarm (10 patterns in all). Work 11 more rows of pattern and fasten off.

Sleeves: Tie in yarn in center st of pattern at un­derarm. 1st row: Ch 3, 2 DC in same st, 1 DC in each of next 5 sts, continue in pattern around sleeve, working through back thread only of each st and working 3 DC in center st of each group; join with slip st in 3rd st of ch 3 (there will be 3 complete patterns). Slip st in next st, ch 3, turn.

Repeat this row for entire sleeves; always join each row in 3rd st of beginning ch 3, slip st to center of group of 3 DC, ch 3 and turn. When there are 9 rows in all from underarm, fasten off.

Shell Border: Beginning at lower right front edge, 5 DC in 1st space, skip 1 space, slip st in next st, * 5 DC in next space, skip 1 space, slip st in next st, repeat from * around fronts and neck edge.

Weave ribbon through first row of DC at neck edge.
