GAUGE: 15 sts make 1 inch; 3½ rows make 1 inch.

CHAIR BACK … Starting at narrow edge, ch 156 to measure 10½ inches. 1st row: Tr in 5th ch from hook and in next 7 ch, * (ch 1, skip 1 ch, tr in next ch) 5 times; tr in next 8 ch. Repeat from * across. Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: Skip first tr, * tr in next 8 tr, (ch 1, tr in next tr) 5 times. Repeat from * across, ending with tr in last 7 tr, tr in top of turning chain. Ch 5, turn. 3rd row: Skip first 2 tr, tr in next tr, (ch 1, skip 1 tr, tr in next tr) 3 times; * ch 4, skip 2 sps, tr in next sp, ch 4, skip 2 sps, tr in next tr, (ch 1, skip 1 tr, tr in next st) 4 times. Repeat from * across, ending with tr in top of turning chain. Ch 5, turn. 4th row: Skip first sp, (tr in next tr, ch 1) 3 times; tr in next tr, * (ch 4, tr in next tr) twice; (ch 1, tr in next tr) 4 times. Repeat from * across, ending with tr in last tr, ch 1, skip 1 ch of turning chain, tr in next ch. Ch 4, turn. 5th row: * (Tr in next sp, tr in next tr) 4 times; (ch 1, skip 1 st, tr in next st) 5 times. Repeat from * across, ending with tr in turning chain. Ch 4, turn. Repeat 2nd to 5th rows incl until piece measures 16 inches, ending with the 2nd row. Ch 5, turn.

EDGING … 1st rnd: In first tr make (tr, ch 1) 3 times (corner); * (skip 1 tr, tr in next tr, ch 1) 4 times; (tr in next tr, ch 1) 5 times. Repeat from * across, making (tr, ch 1) 3 times and tr in top of turning chain. Make ch-1 and tr sps evenly across side edge and work other 2 sides to correspond, making corners as before. Join. 2nd rnd: Ch 3, (2 dc in next sp, dc in next tr) 3 times; * dc in next sp, dc in next tr. Repeat from * around, making 2 dc in each of the 3 sps of each corner. Join. 3rd rnd: Sc in each dc around, making 3 sc at each corner. Join and break off.

ARM PIECE (Make 2) … Work as for Chair Back until piece measures 7 inches, ending with the 2nd row. Complete as for Chair Back.
