Steel crochet hook No. 13; or

ROW 1—Ch 152, dc in 8th ch from hook, (ch 2, sk 2 ch, dc in next ch) 48 times to end of ch, ch 2, tr in same end ch. ROW 2—Ch 7, turn, dc in tr (half-sp added at beginning of row), (ch 2, dc in next dc) repeated across to 3d st of end ch-7, ch 2, tr in same st (half-sp added at end of row). ROW 3—Ch 7, turn, dc in tr, (ch 2, dc in next dc) 11 times, (11 sps made), (2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc) 13 times (13 blks made), (ch 2, dc in next dc) 28 times to 3d st of end ch-7, ch 2, tr in same st. ROW 4—Ch 7, turn, dc in tr, 27 sps, 17 blks, 10 sps and 1 half-sp. Continue, following Chart, thru Row 25. Make the long sps in centers of 3 of the flowers in doily of ch 5, sk 5 sts, dc in next st. These long sps come in 2 flowers in Rows 10 to 16 incl. and in 1 flower in Rows 33 to 37 incl. EDGE—Ch 3, turn, sk tr, 2 dc in 1st dc, * (2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc) repeated across to corner, in corner dc make 3 dc, (3 dc in next sp, dc between sps) repeated to corner, 3 dc in corner dc. Repeat from * around, join to top of 1st ch-3.
