This amount is sufficient for a double size spread in White or Ecru.

Gauge: Each block measures about 8¼ inches square and requires about 122 yards of thread. For a double size spread (about 97 x 114 inches), or a single size spread (about 76 x 114 inches), make the necessary amount of blocks and then join them together to correspond with measurement.

Block. Starting at center, ch 6 and join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 3 (to count as d c), 15 d c in ring. Join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-3 first made. 2nd rnd: Ch 4 (to count as d c and ch 1), * d c in next d c, ch 1, repeat from * around. Join last ch-1 with sl st to 3rd st of ch-4 (16 sps). 3rd rnd: Ch 1, 2 s c in each sp around. Join with sl st to ch-1 first made. 4th rnd: * Skip 1 s c, s c in next s c, skip 1 s c, 3 d c in next, ch-5 p, 3 d c in same s c (1 shell made). Repeat from * around (8 shells). To Join Blocks: Place blocks adjacent to one another, and sew on wrong side with over and over stitches.

Edging. First Scallop: To begin, ch 17, turn. 1st row: D c in 4th ch from hook, d c in each ch to end. Next row: D c in each of next 14 d c. Ch 3, turn. Following row: Same as previous row. Repeat second scallop until edging measures same length as one side of bedspread. Along straight side of edging, work 2 s c in each sp. Ch 4, turn. * Skip 1 s c, d c in next s c, ch 1, repeat from * across. Make 3 more lengths to correspond with other three sides of bedspread. Sew edging to bedspread.
