Fringe Rug Pattern

Materials Required:
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "AUNT LYDIA'S" HEAVY RUG YARN
9 - 70 yd. skeins Dk. Red
15 - 70 yd. skeins Moss
5 - 70 yd. skeins Antique Gold
Plastic Crochet Hook Size J OR ANY SIZE HOOK WHICH WILL RESULT IN STITCH GAUGE BELOW

GAUGE: 3 s c = l inch

With Moss ch 74, 1 s c in 2nd st from hook and in each remaining st of ch (73 s c), ch 1 to turn each row. 2nd ROW: 1 s c in 1st s c, * ch 1, skip next s c, 1 s c in next s c, repeat from * across row (36 meshes). 3rd ROW: * 1 s c in next s c, 1 s c in ch 1 space, repeat from * across row. NEXT ROW: 1 s c in each s c across row. Repeat last 3 rows until foundation measures 45 inches ending with 2nd row.
FRINGE: Open 1 skein of each color and cut each end, then cut evenly in 3 sections. Take 4 strands of yarn, fold in half, pull through ch 1 space with hook around 2nd s c, pull yarn through folded loop to form fringe. Repeat in each ch 1 space in follow­ing colors: 4 spaces Moss, 3 spaces An­tique Gold, 8 spaces Dk. Red, 1 space An­tique Gold, 3 spaces Moss (center). Com­plete other half to correspond. Trim fringe evenly across. Work fringe in each ch 1 pattern row in same manner. With Moss finish 1st and last rows of foundation with 1 s c in each st, cut yarn.
