COATS & CLARK'S O.N.T. "SPEED-CRO-SHEEN" MERCERIZED COTTON, Art. C.44: 2 balls of No. 46-A Mid Rose; and
COATS & CLARK'S O.N.T. SIX STRAND EMBROIDERY FLOSS, Art. C.11: 3 skeins of No. 12 Black and 1 skein each of No. 108 Steel Blue and No. 140 Signal Red.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero).
A bone ring.

   Starting at center with Mid Rose, ch 2. 1st rnd: 7 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around. 3rd rnd: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc (1 sc increased). Repeat from * around. 4th rnd: Sc in each sc around, increasing 7 sc evenly around. Repeat 4th rnd until piece measures 6¾ inches in diameter. Break off. Make another piece the same way.
   Embroider one side as follows: With Steel Blue and Black, embroider eyes, eyelashes and eyebrows; with Signal Red, embroider mouth.
   With wrong sides facing, place pieces together and, working through both thicknesses, attach Mid Rose to any sc and sc in each sc around. Join and break off.

HAIR … With a double strand of Black Embroidery Floss, make a chain 4 inches long. 1st row: Insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, thread over and draw thread through, thread over and draw through loop on hook, draw loop on hook out to measure ½ inch (loop st made), retaining all loops on hook, make 3 more loop sts in same ch, make 4 loop sts in each chain across. Break off. Make another chain 5½ inches long and work across in the same way. Sew these pieces in place, forming 2 circles on top of pot holder. With double strand of Black sc closely around bone ring. Join and break off. Sew ring in place.
