Materials Required — AMERICAN THREAD COM­PANY "STAR" RUG YARN, ARTICLE 44
12-80 yd. Skeins Cream.
34-80 yd. Skeins Beige or Any Colors desired.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 00.
Finished Rug measures about 44 x 60 inches.
For a smaller rug use "STAR" Cotton Yarn, Article 75.
8-100 yd. Skeins Cream.
28-100 yd. Skeins Any Contrasting Color.

With Cream, ch 31, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each of the next 20 sts of ch. Drop Cream (always drop yarn to wrong side of work), attach Beige, work 1 s c in each of the next 9 sts of ch. (When changing Color always work the last half of st with next color), ch 1, turn.
2nd Row. With wrong side of work towards you, with Beige work 1 double loop st in each of the next 9 s c, (Double loop st: wind yarn over index finger twice, insert hook in st, draw yarn through pulling yarn from under index finger letting loops fall to right side of work and complete s c), drop Beige and with Cream, work 1 s c in each of the next 21 s c, ch 1, turn.
3rd Row.
Following chart as a guide, with Cream, work 1 s c in each of the next 21 s c, drop Cream and with Beige work 1 s c in each of the next 9 sts, ch 1, turn.
4th Row. With Beige, work 1 double loop st in each of the next 9 sts, drop Beige and with Cream work 1 s c in each of the next 21 sts, ch 1, turn.
5th to 9th Rows. Work in pattern following chart, work­ing Beige in all even rows in double loop sts throughout.
10th Row. With Beige work 1 double loop st in each of the next 14 sts, carrying Beige on wrong side of work, and working over Beige with Cream work 1 s c in each of the next 8 sts, drop Beige and with Cream work 1 s c in each of the next 8 sts, ch 1, turn.
11th & 12th Rows. Work in pattern.
13th Row. With Cream work 1 s c in each of the next 5 sts, carry Cream in back, and working over Cream with Beige, work 1 s c in each of the next 24 sts, drop Beige and with Cream work 1 s c in next st, ch 1, turn.
14th to 19th Rows. Working over Cream in same manner in all rows, work according to pattern.
20th Row. With Cream, work 1 s c in each of the next 6 s c, carry Beige on wrong side of work, and working over Beige with Cream, work 1 s c in each of the next 8 sts, drop Cream and with Beige work 1 double loop st in each of the next 16 sts, ch 1, turn.
21st to 30th Rows. Work in pattern, break yarn. Work 23 more squares.
Sew squares together as illustrated having 4 squares in width, and 6 squares in length.
With wrong side of work toward you, with Beige work 1 row of double loop sts around rug, working 1 double loop st in each st and three double loop sts in center st at each corner, ch 1, turn.
2nd Row. With right side of work toward you, work 1 s c in each st, working 3 s c in center st at each corner, ch 1, turn.
Repeat the last two rows 4 times, break yarn.
