Materials Required - AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "GEM" COTTON YARN.
5 Skeins National Blue.
1 Skein Orange.
Bone Crochet Hook Number 4 or 5.
Small wooden button mold.

Cut two 5 inch circles from cardboard.
Circle. Ch 3, 7 s c in 1st st of ch, join each row.
2nd Row. Ch 1, 1 s c in same space, 2 s c in each re­maining s c.
3rd and 4th Rows. Ch 1, 1 s c in same space, * 1 s c in next s c, 2 s c in next s c, repeat from * all around and work 2 rows even.
7th and 8th Rows. Ch 1, s c in same space, s c in next s c * 2 s c in next s c, 1 s c in each of the next 2 s c, repeat from * all around. Work 3 more circles. Place cardboard between 2 sections and sew together. Sew other 2 sections over cardboard.
With Blue, Ch 61 and work 60 s c on ch.
2nd Row. Start to carry Orange underneath for rest of bag. When two colors are used carry the second color under the sts for entire row, drawing up the yarn being carried to insure its not looping on wrong side. In changing color pick up the 2nd color when completing the last st of 1st color. Work 10 sts in Blue, 4 sts Orange, 32 sts Blue, 4 sts Orange, 10 sts Blue, ch 1, turn. Repeat this row twice.
5th Row. Work 6 sts Blue, 4 sts Orange, 4 sts Blue, 4 sts Orange, 24 sts Blue, 4 sts Orange, 4 sts Blue, 4 sts Orange, 6 sts Blue. Repeat this row twice. Then repeat from beginning until work measures 17½ inches.
Decrease 1 st each end of bag for next 11 rows, break yarn. Starting at side of bag work a row of s c around shaped part, then work 18 s c, ch 9, skip 2 s c, s c in next s c and work other side to correspond.

Button. With Orange, ch 3, 7 s c in 1st st of ch, join.
2nd Row. Ch 1, s c in same space, 2 s c in each of the next 2 s c, join.
3rd Row. Ch 1, 1 s c in each s c, join. Insert wooden button mold and * skip 1 s c, 1 s c in next s c, repeat from * all around. Leave an end to sew to bag.
Pin circles in position, sew all around and sew button in center of 12th row.

Shoulder Cords. Ch 5 and work 1 s c in each ch.
Next Row. 1 s c in each s c. Without joining rows, repeat last row until cord measures 41 inches. Work another cord slightly longer allowing for knot. Sew cords in position as illustrated.
