Daisies Boutonniere Pattern #2250

Materials: Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, size 50, 1 ball.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 12.
A bunch of stamens.
1 yd. flower wire.

Outer Layer. Starting at center, ch 10, join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: 10 s c in ring. Hereafter, pick up only the back loop of each s c. 2nd rnd: 2 s c in each s c. 3rd rnd: * S c in next s c, 2 s c in next s c. Repeat from * around. 4th rnd: * S c in each of next 3 s c, 2 s c in next s c. Repeat from * around. Hereafter, repeat 4th rnd until there are 80 s c in the rnd. ** Then ch 15, make s c in 2nd ch from hook and s c in each ch across, sl st in each of next 2 s c of center, ch 1, turn. Hereafter, pick up both loops of sc. S c in each s c across, ch 1, turn. S c in each s c across, sl st in each of next 2 s c of center (1 petal made). Repeat from ** around. Break off.

Inner Layer. Ch 10, join with sl st to form ring. Make 15 s c in ring. Then make 2 s c in each s c, picking up the back loop only of each s c, until there are 36 s c in the rnd. Then make a rnd of petals as before, but making ch 10 (instead of ch 15). Break off. Starch and press.

For stem, cut wire 4 inches long. Insert a few stamens through center of both layers of flower and wind one end of stem to stamens. Then wind thread closely together around entire length. This completes one flower. Make 2 more flowers same as this.

Leaf Spray. Make a chain about 3 inches long, turn and work as follows: * S c in each ch across next ¾ inch of chain, then, ch 6, turn and work s c in each st of ch-6, sl st in next ch of foundation, ch 1, turn. S c in each s c across, ch 1, turn and work s c in each s c, then sl st in foundation ch (1 leaf made). Repeat from * to end of chain and continue as before down other side of foundation chain. Break off. Make another leaf spray same as this. Sew a 7-inch length of wire along length of spray on one side, then wind thread around remainder of wire for stem. Finish other spray in same way. Group flowers and tie together at stems.
