   Choose your thread for hairpin lace according to the article which it is to trim. Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, size 30, white or colors, is adaptable to a variety of uses. Unusual effects are obtained with the lovely shaded and variegated colors. Clark's O.N.T. "Brilliant" is suggested when a high lustre is desired.

   For heavier effects, use J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen or Clark's O.N.T. Cronita.

8101 • the hairpin hedge

   Make hairpin lace the length desired. Turn and work 1 s c in each loop along one side. Fasten off. Attach thread to 1st loop on other side and work as follows: * Insert hook in next loop, thread over hook, draw loop out on hook. Repeat from * 2 more times (4 loops on hook), thread over hook, draw through all 4 loops at once, ch 4, repeat from * to end of row.
