CHADWICK'S RED HEART KNITTING WORSTED, 4 Ply, Art. E.232: 8 skeins (1 oz. "Tangle-Proof" Pull-Out Skeins) of No. 1 White; 15 skeins each of No. 809 Lt. Blue and No. 818 Blue Jewel; 19 skeins of No. 848 Skipper Blue and 8 skeins of No. 858 Navy.

Clark's O.N.T. Plastic Crochet Hook No. G.

GAUGE: 4 sts make 1 inch; 3 rows make 1 inch.

Afghan measures approximately 40 x 60 inches.

Starting at narrow end with White, make a chain 50 inches long. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across until row measures 45 inches, having an even number of dc, not counting starting chain. Break off. 2nd row: Attach Lt. Blue to top of starting chain, sc in same place, * make dc around bar of next dc (raised dc made), sc in next dc. Repeat from * across. Break off. 3rd row: Attach Blue Jewel to first sc made on previous row, sc in same place, * make raised dc around bar of next dc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Break off. Continue to work as for 3rd row, using Skipper Blue for 4th row, Navy for 5th row, Skipper Blue for 6th row, Blue Jewel for 7th row, Lt. Blue for 8th row and White for 9th row. Repeat 2nd to 9th rows incl until piece measures 60 inches, ending with a White stripe.

EDGING … Attach Skipper Blue to first st of last row, sc in same place, * ch 11, 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 3 sc in each ch across, sc in next 4 sts. Repeat from * across. Break off. Twist each strip into a curl. Com­plete opposite side to correspond. Block to measure­ments given.
