MATERIALS

BERNAT Nylo Germantown (2 oz. skeins) — 11 Brown, 5 Beige, 3 Scarlet and 2 White

1 aluminum crochet hook size J

GAUGE: 3 sts = 1 inch; 3 rows = 1 inch

PLAIN SQUARES: Make 24 Brown and 15 White. Ch 20 sts. Row 1: 1 s c in 2nd ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, 1 s c in next ch, repeat from * across ch, ch 2, turn. Row 2: 1 s c in first ch 1 space, * ch 1, 1 s c in next ch 1 space, repeat from * across row, ending ch 1, 1 s c in turning ch, ch 2, turn. Repeat Row 2 sixteen times more.

STRIPED SQUARES: Make 38. Work in same manner as plain squares, using colors as follows: 6 rows Beige, 6 rows Scarlet, 6 rows Beige.

FINISHING: Using Brown, work 1 row s c around each square, working 3 s c in each corner. Block each square to measure 6 ½ inches. Following chart for placement of squares and using Brown, s c squares tog. Using Brown, work 1 row s c around entire afghan, working 3 s c in each corner.
