BERNAT Nylo Germantown (2 oz. skeins) —17 Dark Brown (M C)

BERNAT Star Spray (2 oz. skeins) — 5 Spray Green (C C)

1 aluminum crochet hook size J

GAUGE: 3 V sts = 2 inches; 3 rows = 2 inches

PLAIN SQUARES: Make 39. Using M C, ch 20 sts very loosely to measure 7 ½ inches. Row 1: 1 d c in 4th ch from hook, ch 1, 1 d c in same ch, * skip 1 ch, 1 d c in next ch, ch 1, 1 d c in same ch (V st made), repeat from *, ending 1 d c in last ch, ch 3, turn. Row 2: 1 V st in first ch 1 space, * 1 V st in next ch 1 space, repeat from *, ending 1 d c in top of turning ch, ch 3, turn. Repeat Row 2 nine times more. Fasten off.

STRIPED SQUARES: Make 38. Using M C, ch 20 sts very loosely to measure 7 ½ inches. Row 1: 1 d c in 4th ch from hook, ch 1, 1 d c in same ch, * skip 1 ch, 1 d c in next ch, ch 1, 1 d c in same ch (V st made), repeat from *, ending 1 d c in last ch, drop M C loop off hook, do not turn. Row 2: Join C C in top of turning ch at beg of last row, ch 3, * 1 V st in next ch 1 space, repeat from *, ending 1 d c in M C loop of previous row; using M C pull through C C loop on hook and ch 3, turn. Row 3: * 1 V st in next ch 1 space, repeat from *, ending 1 d c in top of turning ch, drop M C, do not turn. Row 4: Using C C, at beg of last row work 1 sl st in top st of M C ch, ch 3, * 1 V st in next ch 1, repeat from *, ending 1 d c in M C loop of previous row; using M C pull through C C loop on hook and ch 3, turn. Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until there are 5 C C stripes and 6 M C stripes. Fasten off.

FINISHING: Block squares to measure 7 inches. Following chart for placement, sew squares tog. Using M C, work 1 row s c around afghan, working 3 s c in each corner.
