Instructions are for size 14, changes for sizes 16 and 18 are in parentheses.

MATERIALS—Bear Brand Super-Spun Nylon, 6 (7-8) skeins; or
Bucilla Twinkle-sheen, 7 (8-9) balls.
Bucilla Steel Crochet Hook, Size 3.

MEASUREMENTS OF GARMENT—At bustline buttoned 41 (43-45) ins.
Width of back at underarm 21 (22-23) ins.

GAUGE: 4 mesh = 1 inch; 4 rows = 1 inch
8 dc = 1 inch; 5 rows dc = 1 inch

BACK—Ch 254 (266-278) for lower edge.
Row 1—1 dc in 5th st from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 sts on ch, 1 dc in next st; repeat from * to end of ch; 84 (88-92) mesh.
Row 2—Ch 5, turn, 1 dc under ch 2 of first mesh, * ch 2, 1 dc under ch 2 of next mesh; repeat from *, end ch 2, 1 dc under turning ch.
Repeat row 2 until 8½ ins. from beg.

SLEEVES—Ch 39 at end of last row for left sleeve. Next row—wrong side—Turn, 1 dc in 5th st from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 sts on ch, 1 dc in next st; repeat from * 10 times, continue mesh across back, drop yarn. Join an extra end of yarn in last mesh of row below, ch 36 for right sleeve; fasten off; pick up dropped yarn and work 12 mesh across ch; 108 (112-116) mesh.
Work even until 8 ins. above beg. of sleeves, end on right side at left sleeve edge. Mark for center top of sleeve.

Left Front Neck Shaping—Row 1—Work across first 44 (46-48) mesh, ch 5, turn. Work 7 more rows on these 44 (46-48) mesh, end at sleeve edge.
* Inc. row—Work even across row, end ch 2, 1 tr in same space as last dc; 45 (47-49) mesh. Work 1 row even.
Repeat from * twice; 47 (49-51) mesh, end at sleeve edge.
Row 15—Work even across row, drop yarn. Join an extra end of yarn in last mesh of row below, ch 21 for front neck; fasten off; pick up dropped yarn and work 7 mesh across ch; 54 (56-58) mesh.
Work even until 8 ins. from marker at center top of sleeve, end at sleeve edge. Fasten off.

LEFT FRONT—Turn, skip first 11 mesh, join yarn in 12th mesh, ch 5, 1 dc under next ch 2, continue to end of row; 42 (44-46) mesh. Work even until 8½ ins. from end of sleeve. Fasten off.

Right Front Neck Shaping—Skip next 19 mesh on last long row for center back of neck, join yarn in 20th mesh, ch 5, 1 dc under next ch 2, continue to end of row; 44 (46-48) mesh. Work 7 more rows, end at neck edge.
* Inc. row—Ch 5, turn, 1 dc in top of first dc, ch 2, 1 dc in next mesh, continue to end of row; 45 (47-49) mesh.
Work 1 row even. Repeat from * twice.
Row 15—Ch 24 for front of neck, turn, 1 dc in 5th st from hook, work 6 more mesh on ch, continue to end of row; 54 (56-58) mesh.
Work even until same number of rows as on left sleeve, end at front edge.

RIGHT FRONT—Next row—Work across 42 (44-46) mesh, turn. Work back and forth on these 42 (44-46) mesh until same number of rows as on other front. Fasten off. Sew underarm and sleeve seams.

WAISTBAND—Row 1—wrong side—Beg. at lower edge of right front, work 1 sc in each mesh on entire lower edge.
Row 2—Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in 2nd and each remaining st of row.
Row 3—Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in 2nd and each remaining st, end 1 dc in top of turning ch.
Repeat last row 8 times more. Fasten off.

ARMBANDSRow 1—Join yarn on lower edge of sleeve at underarm seam, from wrong side work 80 sc evenly spaced around sleeve edge, join with slip st in first sc.
Row 2—Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in 2nd and each remaining st, join with slip st in top of turning ch.
Repeat last row 3 times. Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each st; join. Fasten off.

NECKBAND—Join yarn on neck edge at right front corner, work 14 sc on front edge; 28 sc on side edge; 40 sc on back of neck; 28 sc on other side edge; 14 sc on left front edge; 124 sts.
Row 2—Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in 2nd and each remaining st.
Row 3—Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in 2nd and each of next 7 sts, * yo, draw up a loop in next st, yo and through 2 loops, yo, draw up a loop in next st, yo and through 2 loops, yo and through 3 loops—a dec., work 6 dc; repeat from * 13 times, 1 dc in each st to end; 110 sts.
Row 4—Same as row 2, end 1 dc in top of turning ch.
Row 5—Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in 2nd and each of next 7 sts, * dec. 1 st, work 5 dc; repeat from * 13 times, 1 dc in each st to end of row; 96 sts. Do not break yarn.

LEFT FRONT BAND—Ch 1, continue down left front edge, working 8 sc on edge of neckband; 2 sc in each mesh to waist­band; 18 sc on edge of waistband. Ch 3, turn, work 2 rows dc; 1 row sc; 2 rows dc. Fasten off.

RIGHT FRONT BUTTONHOLE BAND—Join yarn at lower edge of right front, work same number of sc to neck edge as on left front band. Ch 3, turn, work 2 rows dc. Mark position of 9 buttonholes—of 3 sts each—, having top buttonhole 3 sts from neck edge and bottom buttonhole 3 sts from lower edge, with remaining 7 buttonholes spaced evenly.

Buttonhole row—Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each st to first marker,* ch 3, skip 3 sts, 1 sc in each st to next marker; repeat from * until there are 9 buttonholes, 1 sc in each st to end. Ch 3, turn, work 2 rows dc. Fasten off. Join yarn on lower edge at right underarm seam, from right side, work 1 row sc on lower, front and neck edges; join. Fasten off.

Steam Twinkle-sheen blouse lightly as follows. Lay garment flat on pressing board, pinning to required measurements. Place a damp cloth over garment and steam lightly with a warm (not hot) iron, being careful not to allow weight of iron to rest on the garment. Allow to dry thoroughly.

Super-Spun Nylon does not require steaming. Sew on buttons.
