Steel crochet hook No. 10 or 11.
GAUGE: Each motif measures about 4½ inches in diameter. For a tablecloth about 60 x 80 inches, make 13 x 17 motifs.
FIRST MOTIF … Ch 12. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 1, 24 sc in ring. Join with sl st to 1st sc made. 2nd rnd: Ch 7 (to count as d tr and ch-2), * d tr in next st, ch 2. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-2 to 5th st of ch-7. 3rd rnd: Sl st in next sp, ch 4, tr in same sp, * ch 2, 2 tr in next sp. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-2 to 4th st of 1st ch. 4th rnd: Sl st across to next sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, * ch 5, sc in next sp. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-5 to 1st sc. 5th rnd: Sl st to center of 1st loop, ch 1, sc in same loop, * ch 5, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join. 6th rnd: Sl st in next loop, ch 3, 3 dc in same loop, * ch 3, sc in next loop, ch 3, 4 dc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-3 to top st of 1st ch. 7th rnd: Ch 3, dc in 3 dc, * ch 5, sc in next sc, ch 5, dc in 4 dc. Repeat from * around. SECOND MOTIF … Work as for 1st motif until 10th rnd is completed. 11th rnd: Ch 7, skip 2 dc, dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in next sp, ch 2, drop loop from hook, insert hook in corresponding ch-4 loop on 1st motif and pull dropped loop through, ch 2, 2 dc in same sp on 2nd motif, dc in next 5 dc, ch 2, join as before to next sp on 1st motif, ch 2, skip 2 dc on 2nd motif, dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in next sp, ch 2, join to next ch-4 loop on 1st motif, ch 2, 2 dc in same sp on 2nd motif.
