Milwards Steel Crochet Hooks No. 2/0 (double zero) and No. 7.
GAUGE: Sole—6 sc make 1 inch; 6 rows make 1 inch. Top—2 patterns make 1 inch; 4 rows make 1 inch.
Directions are written for Small Size. Changes for Medium and Large Sizes are in parentheses.
SOLE (Make 2) … Starting at center with "Speed-Cro-Sheen" and No. 2/0 hook, ch 30 (36-42). 1st rnd: 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 15 (18-21) ch, dc in next 12 (15-18) ch, make 7 dc in last ch (toe); working along opposite side of starting chain, make dc in next 12 (15-18) ch, sc in next 15 (18-21) ch, 2 sc in same place as first 3 sc were made. Do not join. 2nd rnd: Sc in each st around, increasing 5 sts evenly spaced across heel and 7 sts evenly spaced across toe—to inc 1 sc, make 2 sc in 1 st. Repeat 2nd rnd until 8 (8-9) rnds have been completed. At end of last rnd, join, break off. Sew 2 Soles together.
TOP … Starting at toe with Spice "Knit-Cro-Sheen" and No. 7 hook, ch 24. 1st row: * Sc in 2nd ch from hook, half dc in next ch, dc in next ch (point made), skip 3 ch, sc in next ch, ch 4. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last ch. Drop Spice, attach Robinette. Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: * Dc in next dc, half dc in next half dc, sc in next sc, tr in next sc. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last sc. Ch 7, turn. 3rd row: * Sc in 2nd ch from hook, half dc in next ch, dc in next ch, skip 3 sts, sc in next st, ch 4. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in turning chain, ch 4 and complete a point (1 point increased at both ends). Drop Robinette and pick up Spice. Sl st to top of last st made. Ch 4, turn. 4th and 5th rows: With Spice repeat 2nd and 3rd rows. 6th and 7th rows: With Robinette repeat 2nd and 3rd rows. 8th row: With Spice repeat 2nd row. Ch 4, turn. 9th row: With Spice, repeat 3rd row. The 6th to 9th rows incl constitute the pattern. Work in pattern until there are 15 (17-19) rows in all.
SIDES ... 1st row: Work in pattern across first 4 points. Ch 4, turn. Work over this set of sts only for 21 (23-25) rows more. Break off. Skip center 3 points, attach thread in next sc and work to correspond, then work 2 more rows. Break off.
With wrong side facing, sew sides together. With right side facing, attach Spice "Knit-Cro-Sheen" to tip of 5th point on last row of Top, sc in same place, half dc in next half dc, dc in next dc, tr in next sc, sc in sc at top of 4th point, now working along side, * make a point, sc in sc at tip of next point. Repeat from * around to within 7th point on last row of Top, tr in sc between points, dc in next dc, half dc in next half dc, sc in tip of 7th point. Break off. Sew Top to Sole. Make other slipper in same way.
