Materials: Clark's O.N.T. Knitting and Crochet Cotton, 1 ball 26 Nile Green and 1 ball 106 Sport Green; or use J. & P. Coats Crochet Cord, 3 balls of each color. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 4. See other color combinations as for Tyrolean Hat No. 32.

Neck Band. With Sport Green, ch 92, turn. 1st row: S c in 3rd ch from hook, and 1 s c in each st of foundation ch. Ch 2, turn. 2nd row: 1 s c in each s c of previous row. Do not break off. Attach Nile Green, ch 2, turn. 3rd row: * Make half d c in each of next 2 sts of previous row, half d c in next st of 1st row (thus working over s c of previous row). Repeat from * to end of row. 4th row: 1 sl st in each st of previous row. With Sport Green ch 2, turn. 5th row: Make 1 s c in each st picking up 2 back loops only. 6th to 42nd rows incl: Repeat 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th rows in order. Break off. Note that neck band is worked lengthwise and tie-ends crosswise.

Tie-Ends. 1st row:Attach Sport Green and make 34 s c on end of neck band, spacing evenly. 2nd to 43rd rows incl: Repeat 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th rows of neck band in order. 44th to 108th rows incl: Increase 1 st at beginning and end of every 4th row. 109th to 133rd rows incl: Decrease 1 st at beginning and end of each row. Break off and work other tie-end.
