MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Art. 65 DAISY Mercerized Crochet Cotton size 30
1 skein each Lt. Pink and Rose Pink makes a place setting and a half

Art. 161 Lily MERCROCHET Cotton size 30
1  ball each Beauty Pink and Baby Pink for each place setting.
A piece of Rose linen or Indian Head 9 x 14 for each Place Mat.
Crochet hook No. 13.

BLOCK–With Baby Pink (or Lt. Pink) ch 22, join with sl st to form ring. ROW 4–Ch 1, (4 sc in ring, ch 6, sl st in last sc for a p) 8 times, join with sl st in 1st sc. Cut 6" long, thread to a needle and fasten off on back. ROW 2–With Beauty Pink (or Rose Pink), ch 12, join with sl st to form ring. Ch 1, (2 sc in ring, ch 5, sl st in last sc for a p) 3 times, 2 sc in ring, ch 2, insert hook in 1 p on Row 1, catch thread and pull thru p and lp on hook (sl st joining made), ch 2, sl st back in last sc, 2 sc in ring, (a p, 2 sc in ring) 3 times. * Ch 20, make 3d ch from hook with a pin, make 10 more ch (30 ch in all), remove hook, insert it back in ch next to pin (12th from hook), catch lp and pull thru, forming a ring out to left of ch, ch 1, (2 sc, a p, 2 sc) in ring, ch 2, swing hook around to right, insert it in next-to-last p on previous flower, catch thread and pull thru p and lp on hook, ch 2, sl st back in last sc, (2 sc, p, 2 sc) in ring, ch 2, swing hook around to right, insert it in next p on Row 1, catch thread and pull thru p and lp on hook, ch 2, sl st back in last sc, 2 sc in ring, (p, 2 sc in ring) 3 times. Repeat from * 6 times (8 flowers), joining next-to-last p on 8th flower to 2d p on 1st flower. End with ch 18, join with sl st at top of 1st flower. Fasten off. ROW 3–Join Baby Pink (or Lt. Pink) at top of one flower. * In each lp around make 5 sc, p, (2 sc, p) 4 times, and 5 sc. Join and fasten off. 2d BLOCK–Repeat to * in Row 3, (5 sc, a p, 2 sc, a p and 2 sc) in half of next lp, ch 2, sl st in center p on 1 lp on 1st Block, ch 2, sl st back in last sc on 2d Block, 2 sc in same lp, ch 2, sl st in next p on 1st Block, ch 2, sl st back in last sc on 2d Block, (2 sc, p, 5 sc) in bal. of lp. Join the 2d and 3d ps on next lp to corresponding ps on next lp on 1st Block, then complete row as for 1st Block.

PLACE MAT–(Size 12 x 17 inches)–Border–Make 14 Blocks and join into 2 straight rows of 7 Blocks each. Connect these 2 rows with a row of 3 Blocks at each end. Heading Row–Working around inside of Border, join Beauty Pink (or Rose Pink) to center p on 1st free lp on one Block, * ch 4, sc in next p, ch 11, sc in 2d p on next lp on same Block, ch 4, sc in next p, ch 14, tr tr (thread over 4 times and work off in twos) down in 2d p on next lp on same Block, tr tr in 1st free p on next lp on next Block, ** ch 14, sc in center p on next lp on same Block. Repeat from * across to Corner Block, ending at **. Tr tr in 2d p on next lp on Corner Block; tr tr in 1st free p on next lp on next Block, ch 14, sc in center p on next lp on same Block. Repeat from * around, join and fasten off. Stretch and pin lace right-side-down in true shape. Steam and press dry thru a cloth. Cut and hem a piece of cloth to fit center. Whip lace to cloth.

BREAD AND BUTTER PLATE DOILY–(Size 7¼ inches)–Join 9 Blocks into a square 3 x 3.

Fill-in-Motif–With Beauty Pink (or Rose Pink) ch 12, join with sl st to form ring. ROW 1–Ch 1, 3 sc in ring, a ch-5 p, (2 sc in ring, a p) 6 times, sc in ring, join with sl st in 1st sc, ch 2, hdc in same st drawn down to equal a p. ROW 2–(Ch 5, sc in next p) 8 times. ROW 3–* 2 sc in next lp, then joining in opening between 4 Blocks, ch 2, sl st in 1st of 4 free ps on one Block, ch 2, sl st back in last sc, 2 sc in same lp, ch 2, sl st in next p on same Block, ch 2, sl st back in last sc, 2 sc in bal. of same lp, 2 sc in next lp, (ch 2, sl st in next p on same Block, ch 2, sl st back in last sc, 2 sc in same lp) twice. Repeat from * 3 times. Join. Fasten off. Repeat in other 3 openings in doily.

GLASS DOILY–(Size 5 inches)–Join 4 Blocks into a square. Make Fill-in-Motif in opening. Stretch and pin Doilies right-side-down in true shape. Steam and press dry thru a cloth.
