J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet, Size 30:
Small Ball:
J. & P. Coats—2 balls each of No. 18 Shaded Lavenders and No. 9 Yellow, or
Clark's O.N.T.—3 balls each of No. 18 Shaded Lavenders and No. 9 Yellow.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 10.
A pair of green pillow cases.

FIRST MOTIF … Starting at center with Shaded Lavenders, ch 6. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 3, 17 dc in ring. Join with sl st to top of ch-3. 2nd rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 5, skip 2 dc, sc in front loop of next dc. Repeat from * around. Join. 3rd rnd: In each loop around make sc, half dc, 5 dc, half dc and sc. Join and break off. 4th rnd: Attach Yellow to back loop of first dc on first rnd, ch 4, tr in same dc, 2 tr in each of next 2 dc, * ch 10, 2 tr in each of next 3 dc. Repeat from * around. Join. 5th rnd: Ch 4, holding back on hook the last loop of each tr make tr in each of next 5 tr, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made), * ch 7, sc in next loop, ch 7, cluster over next 6 tr. Repeat from * around. Join. 6th rnd: In each loop around make (3 sc, ch 3) twice and 3 sc. Join and break off.

SECOND MOTIF … Work as for First Motif until 5 rnds are completed. 6th rnd: * 3 sc in next loop, (ch 1, sl st in corresponding loop on First Motif, ch 1, 3 sc in same loop on Second Motif) twice. Repeat from * once more. Complete rnd as for First Motif (no more joinings).
   Make 8 more motifs, joining adja­cent sides as Second Motif was joined to First Motif, leaving 4 loops free between joinings on each motif. Make 15 more motifs. Join as shown on chart. Rip out hem of pillow case and press out any creases. Cut front of pillow case 1 inch shorter than back, round corners on back to meet front. Make a narrow hem all around. Sew motifs in place, having edges even with back edge of pillow case.

EDGING … 1st row: Attach Yellow to back and sc closely across. Turn. 2nd row: * Ch 8, skip 5 sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Turn. 3rd row: In each loop across make (3 sc, ch 3) twice and 3 sc. Break off.
   Starch motifs lightly and press.
