Ch 3, join with a sl st to form a ring. Work 6 sc in ring. Work 2 sc in each sc (12 sc).
Next rnd: *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around.
Next rnd: * 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around. Continue in this manner, increasing 6 sts on each rnd until piece measures 6" in diameter. Work even until piece measures 6" measured straight down from top.
Brim: next rnd: inc 1 st in every 4th st around.
Next rnd: inc 1 st in every 5th st around.
Next rnd: inc 1 st in every 6th st around. Work 4 rnds even. Break ribbon, fasten off.
Headband: ch 100, turn. Work 1 sc in 15th ch from end, * ch 7, skip 6 sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * to end of row. Break ribbon, fasten off. Attach sewing needle to end of ribbon, and thread 22 beads onto ribbon. Attach ribbon to one end of headband strip, work 1 sc in strip, slip bead into place, * work 1 sc in each sc to first point of joining, slip another bead into place, work 1 sc in first pt of joining and repeat from * around entire strip, working in 1 bead at each pt of joining and 1 at end of strip. Break ribbon, fasten off. Finishing: sew silk kerchief in place under headband as pictured (rolling in ends of kerchief to fit), sew headband in place, and knot kerchief in desired position.
